The Cement Mason General Forman is responsible for the supervision and training of crews for all required tasks related to the day-to-day operations of the concrete crew. Project staffing and selection of required equipment to perform tasks in line with budgeted costs and production schedules as necessary. Supervise and perform related tasks involving preparing the surface, placing wet concrete, and properly finishing the concrete as required by the project. Operating a variety of hand and power tools. Ensures compliance with company policies and accurately submits required reports.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise, mentor, and coach craft personnel as it relates to company policies, procedures, and work requirements.
Direct work of assigned crew to meet daily schedule.
Perform onsite coordination of manpower, materials, and equipment.
Understand production schedule and adjust daily work to meet schedules.
Plan, coordinate, and request material needed for scope of work in advance of need.
Read, understand, and interpret plans and specifications as required and check work accordingly to specifications.
Maintain high level of safety and adherence to all safety policies and procedures for craft personnel and subcontractors.
Complete daily required paperwork such as, but not limited to, timecards, production rates, new hire paperwork, daily logs, and safety reports.
Ensure that the team is adhering to company policies including but not limited to timekeeping, safety, etc.
Works with both internal and external customers in a professional manner to maintain good working relationships.
Participates in the Execution of Concrete Placement
Ensures finishes meet project requirements consistent with FF/FL specifications
Maintains up to date knowledge of all tools and equipment required and ensures proper maintenance of place and finish tools and equipment.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent and 5 years of related experience or 7 years of related experience.
Ability to read, understand, and complete job related documents and forms.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
Strong attention to detail
Ability to read and understand blueprints
Know the abbreviated and common construction terms for the equipment and materials used.
Ability to calculate mathematical figures such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Ability to deal with problems involving specific variables in standardized situations.
Ability to kneel, stoop, crouch, balance, climb, crawl, and pull.
Must have the ability to exert heavy physical effort, handing average weight objects up to 50 pounds.
