We pick and display offers several billion times a day across all surfaces (mobile app, mobile web, desktop, Alexa shopping) worldwide." Our team blends machine learning models to rank and select the best offer from the most trusted merchant for all products sold on Amazon along with a world-class user experience for offer comparison to our global customers. The mission of the Amazon Offers Experience organization is to be the world's first and most trusted choice for every customer on earth to discover and evaluate any product or service.

The Offer Display impacts the shopping experience of millions of unique customers and directly drives &gt90% of all units purchased on Amazon WW. This team has a full stack development model, including backend APIs and customer experience platforms. The team directly owns the "Buy New" and "Buy Used" shopping experience, six core features such as Price, Availability, 'Ships from Sold By', and supports a federated development model allowing incorporation of all other variations owned by partner teams across the Amazon Consumer business (Deals, Subscribe and Save etc.). The team also owns a Tier-1 service with 1M TPS, serving 100's of Amazon API clients across multiple orgs including Search, Personalization, Homepage, F3, Audible and Alexa to name a few. We are responsible for the experiences and services that enable developers, including our own, to create tailored shopping experiences for every customer, product, business and marketplace offered by Amazon. We build scalable and extensible frameworks which allow for many teams at Amazon to innovate within the Offers Experience in a federated manner.

In this role you will be the leader of a team that is customer obsessed and deeply technical. You will gather requirements from a large number of customers and stakeholders, explore existing and emerging technologies inside and outside Amazon, map out opportunities and gaps between them and build a technical roadmap and deliver on it. You should have excellent technical, problem-solving, and communication skills as well as an ability to get things delivered. Key job responsibilitiesAs a Software Development Manager on the team, you will be expected to
  • Take on hard, ambiguous problems and break them down to their simple parts.
  • Manage a team of high caliber Software Development and Quality Assurance Engineers working on building world class, scalable distributed systems and mobile customer experiences.
  • Recruit, hire, mentor, and coach Software Development Engineers at different levels of experience.
  • Manage and execute against project plans and deliver commitments within a professional, high paced engineering environment.
  • Interface with our internal customers to understand requirements, set priorities and communicate direction and progress.
  • Own all operational metrics and support for your teams' software.
  • Drive improvements in software engineering practices.
A day in the life
  • Brainstorming meetings with product managers and leadership team on new product ideas.
  • Work with engineers to design, scope, plan and deliver features for offer display.
  • Meet with stakeholders (internal and external) and dependencies to build relationships, align on roadmap and delivery timelines.
  • Work with a team of recruiters to hire great talent for the team.

About the teamThis role sits within the Core Shopping organization, responsible for core experiences from Homepage to Checkout. Offers Experience is a team within Core Shopping that blends the ranking algorithms with customer experience to drive innovations for our shoppers. The charter of this unified team is to obsess about all things related to the "offer experience", which starts with determining what the Offers are vended via the Featured Offer Algorithm, and gets displayed to customers via the Offer Display, All Offer Display or Other Sellers on Amazon. We are responsible for the experiences and services that enable developers, including our own, to create tailored shopping experiences for every customer, product, business and marketplace offered by Amazon. We build scalable and extensible frameworks which allow for many teams at Amazon to innovate within the Offers Experience in a federated manner. The Offers Display team, based in Seattle, manages the Platform (which shows "Add to cart" on Detail Page) and a Tier-1 Service.
