From the simplest voice commands (e.g., "turn on the lights", "turn down the heat") to use cases spanning home security, home entertainment, and home environment, we are evolving Alexa into an intelligent, indispensable companion that automates daily routines, simplifies interaction with appliances and electronics, and helps customers get the most out of the technology in their lives.As a Software Development Engineer on the team, you will develop robust, highly-scalable, and globally distributed services that, together with machine learning, make the Smart Home intelligent. Your work will span Alexa skills, voice user interfaces, cloud services, and a rapidly-growing ecosystem of IoT devices. You will help lay the foundation to move from directed device interactions to learned behaviors that span multiple devices throughout the home. And, you will have the satisfaction of working on a product your friends and family can relate to, and want to use every day. Like the world of smart phones less than 15 years ago, this is a rare opportunity to have a giant impact on the way people live.Key job responsibilities- Work in an Agile environment to deliver high-quality, efficient, and testable code
- Craft new architecture designs with your teammates
- Give helpful, constructive feedback through code reviews
- Uphold the high operational excellence bar through service tuning and on-call rotation
- Programming experience with at least one software programming language.
- 1+ years of experience in software development
- A deep understanding of software development in an Agile team
- Experience in all phases of the software development lifecycle
- Experience with both back-end and front-end development (full-stack engineering)
- Experience developing with Amazon Web Services
- Excellence in technical communication with peers and non-tech audience
