QA Data engineer (Back-end engineer also possible)Brief description We are the Trial team, part of the MLPT organization. As part of MLPT, our goal is to build systems and services that will help accelerate the pace of adoption of ML. Our focus area is in building data systems specific to ML engineering problems. We provide the Trial service that help with deployment and experimentation.This position requires an ambitious individual with strong creative and analytic skills. You will take an active role in shaping the quality of our product. This will demand deep integration with our development engineers, creating test plans, bug reporting and triaging, identifying automation opportunities, and supporting design reviews. You will work with data at scale, build tools to provide insights into data quality issues, prioritize and drive the correctness of data with data producers, and monitor quality of production data. You''ll help us identify holes in coverage, actively sync with multi-functional teams to reduce duplication, foster better testing, and resist regressions.We''re looking for someone who is comfortable with a fast-moving environment and can learn quickly.1. Use Seattle location to set rate and for Merlin location.Top 2-3 skills you will be looking for when you review resumes?Primary Requirements•A passion for making simple, robust products used by other engineering teams•Strong software development skills, with proficiency in relevant languages (e.g. Python, Java, Scala).•You have excellent problem solving and debugging skills•Creative, collaborative, and product-focused•Familiarity with writing and executing automation test•Familiarity with analytics testingAdditional Requirements•Experience building applications/services with Python / Java / Scala•Experience building and monitoring robust data pipelines in distributed computing environments•Experience with QA•Strong understanding of data structures & algorithms•You have strong written and verbal communication skills•Experience and in-depth knowledge of open source distributed systems such as Kafka, Spark, Kubernetes, etc.•Experience with SQL / NoSQL databases•Familiarity with open source technologies for data storage, processing & querying like Presto/Trino, Impala, Iceberg a plus.•Familiarity with experimentation systems & methods a plus.Anything that would automatically disqualify a candidate?•Lack of coding experience•Lack of experience in using REST APIs and no exposure to using distributed systems•Lack of experience working with automated CI/CD pipelines•Lack of experience with ETL pipelinesYears of experience:•3+ yearVacancy expired!
