The Rentals Data Acquisition Team is responsible for designing and building a next-gen streaming pipeline infrastructure to import and curate nationwide rental listings data in near real-time, store them at scale, while emphasizing robustness and maintainability.

You will support the foundation of Redfin's newest business: serving renters finding their new home. As the backend architect serving 37% of consumers who rent rather than own a home, this high impact role requires working with technical leaders across the company to ensure the team can iterate on and deliver data solutions for the evolving needs of the business.

We are looking for an experienced software engineer that:

Leads design, iteration, implementation, and testing of complicated, multi-engineer distributed systems end-to-end.
Applies passion for technology to evolve existing systems.
Constantly challenges the status quo.
Thrives as a technical leader, driving open-ended discussions toward consensus.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or higher in CS or related fields.
4+ years of experience with software engineering and objective-oriented languages like Java.
Experience with software design best practices, test-driven development, and dependency injection.
Experience with monitoring and alerting frameworks.
Experience with service-oriented architecture or microservices.
Experience with cloud services like AWS or equivalent.
Experience with data and analytics (SQL, python).
Experience with building robust, scalable data ingestion and stream processing pipelines with Kafka, Samza, or equivalent is a plus.
