DESCRIPTION

Job summaryAWS Lambda is a fast growing service that is becoming the default compute infrastructure for many applications.

We are looking for a proven leader to help lead teams of exceptional software engineers to tackle some of the hardest problems at global scale. We want someone who has a proven record of delivering highly operable and maintainable software on time, has relentlessly high standards for themselves and everyone around them and who will drive engineering best practices throughout the while constantly looking for ways to make the systems we own better.

This is a growing team within Lambda. We are responsible for the fleets backing Lambda. We look to make optimal choices to utilize the fleets as much as possible without impacting customer availability. You have the flexibility to brainstorm and implement ideas that will directly impact Lambda's profitability.

How can we evaluate CPU and memory resources to create an optimally balanced fleet? How can we build systems to predict spikes in traffic to prevent any availability drops? How can we automatically balance on demand and reserved instances to minimize Lambda's financial impact? These are just some of the problems you'll work on. You'll design and implement complex solutions from scratch.

About AWS Lambda: AWS Lambda is changing the way that companies big and small think about computing in the cloud. Lambda functions offer customer a "serverless" way to create applications, an approach that lets customers turn business logic and application code into scalable, fault-tolerant production systems without requiring every developer to become an expert in distributed systems, deployment technologies, and infrastructure management.
