Evaluate Accounting Practice compliance and make recommendations for improvements

Develop corrective or improvement plans to address areas needing improvemnts

Evaluate performance in financial management risk and controls

Supporting Groups:Evaluation may be performed in the following areasEvaluates performance of professional financial/accounting activities including the maintenance, control, analysis and development of complex financial/accounting records, reports and systems. Provides business advice and services to management and staff to ensure compliance with applicable federal laws, regulations, policies and good business practices. Includes systems and process development to improve business practices.

Evaluates performance of professional financial/accounting activities control, analysis and development of complex financial/accounting records, reports and systems. Completes and submits DOE/Corporate reporting while providing audit support to the orginization.

Evaluates professional financial/accounting activities including the maintenance, control, analysis and development of complex financial/accounting records, reports and systems. Focus on accounting for inventory, and capital assets. Provides oversight of the Property Determination process and capital/expense cost treatment. Provides business advice and services to management and staff to ensure compliance with applicable federal laws, regulations, policies and good business practices. Includes systems and process development to improve business practices.

Finance Professional – Level 4Demonstrates leadership by translating strategy into specific goals and objectives. Works on unusually complex problems and provide solutions which are highly innovative and ingenious. Identifies opportunities and risks and makes recommendations affecting organizational or Lab strategy.

Recognized for competency and wide-ranging experience. Uses professional financial accounting concepts and organizational objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways. Balances long-term strategic goals with short-term priorities, and networks across management systems. Ensures effective internal controls for assigned operations.

Exercises judgement in selecting financial and accounting methods and techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.

Interacts internally and externally related to plans, deliverables and objectives.

Conducts mentoring and training and may function as team lead or give direction to other staff.

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of relevant experience.

Advanced degree and 6+ years of relevant experience.

Professional license and/or certification may be preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, MIS or a related business field

Working knowledge of financial accounting and reporting systems, general accounting practices, internal controls, cost accounting standards, and strong analytical, process development and communication skills are required.

A high degree of knowledge of Microsoft Access and Excel is a requirement.

Assignments may be wide in scope requiring a broad background of experience or independent action and a high degree of initiative to resolve issues.

Has substantial understanding of the job and applies knowledge and skills to complete a wide range of tasks.

Skilled in the use of basic financial and accounting systems and software.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
