POSITION TITLE: Houseman

REPORTS TO: Housekeeping Manager or Assistant Hsk. Mgr.

POSITION SUMMARY: Performs a variety of tasks to maintain hotel lobby, working areas, guest rooms, and general hotel premises in clean and orderly condition. Provides general assistance and demonstrates a helpful and welcoming presence for hotel guests.

TASKS AND COMPETENCIES:

1. Assists in keeping the lobby area clean, neat and free of debris and trash as needed.

2. Receives linen supplies from laundry and stocks housekeeping closets on guest floors in a neat organized manner.

3. Maintains housekeeping carts and stocks supplies.

4. Able to clean guest rooms and replace linens when assistance is requested by housekeepers.

5. Cleans rooms, hallways and restrooms.

6. Helps the room attendants with heavy lifting and special cleaning projects as directed.

7. Assists housekeeping with placing bed boards, roll-ways beds, extra bed etc. in appropriate fashion per standard operating procedures.

8. Reports missing / found articles, damage or merchandise problems to the housekeeping supervisor and managers.

9. Responds at all times in a friendly, helpful manner to guests and other colleagues.

10. Handles any tasks assigned by the supervisors as and when needed, including other various cleaning/organizing/etc related tasks.

PREREQUISITES:

Education: High school graduate or equivalent desired. Must be able to speak, read and write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.

Experience: Previous housekeeping or hospitality experience beneficial.

Physical: Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, hearing, visual acuity. Requires the ability to push and pull housekeeping carts and equipment. Must be able to stand for a long period of time, and lift up to 30 pounds on a regular and continuing basis.

Position will start full time and may increase to full-time depending on demand and performance. Requires some weekends and evenings.
