Network Engineer - State of VA

Candidates must be submitted by COB Friday 4/16 to be consideredThis role offers no remote work 100% onsite between the DOC HQ and DOC facilitiesAll candidates must be comfortable going onsite to DOC facilities. This person will be working within their Field Technology Operations team, so they will be required to travel to different sites. DOC will do there best to allow remote work when possible, but the nature of the work requires an onsite resource.•Work experience in the computer support field. A combination of desktop, server & network support is required within a fast-paced, delivery oriented agile environment.•This position must be able to perform with minimal direct supervision and may be required to use their home as a base of operation. •Significant travel (usually day trips) may be required.•Responsibilities include independently installing, updating, and managing networks, applications and hardware throughout VADOC. •Knowledge of various windows operating systems such as Win10, Server 2012/2016/2019, and associated products to include but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite. •Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues with networks, network devices, firewalls, desktop hardware, various operating systems and application software in a LAN / standalone environment. •Strong technical skills to manage, maintain, troubleshoot, repair and update software, and hardware. Support the DOC field technology efforts and provide technical advice and guidance on complex work problems involving field technology software. •Provide technical support of complex work problems involving computer technology to include workstation & server hardware, networking hardware, networking infrastructure, and various operating systems software. •Knowledge of administrative and office management principles and practices. Ability to work effectively in both a team and independent environment.•Self-Starter and Strong knowledge and experience with Agile Concepts, Practices, and Delivery. Experience working in a fast-paced delivery environment, ability to independently think through issues, and identify root causes and solutions, ability to deconstruct, identify critical from the non-critical or non-urgent parking lot items rapidly and independently.•Understanding and experience with incremental delivery and continuous improvement principles and practices.•Experience with rapid small-scale pilots and incremental updates. Understanding of project management principles. •Identify problems along with solution recommendations - immediate, short, or long term with clearly thought through pros and cons. •Ability to follow through on the team chain of command, instructions/directions, team processes, team operating models, and committed deadlines and rapidly changing deliverables and priorities.•Advanced knowledge of computer software including operating systems and database programs. This position must be able to perform with minimal direct supervision.
