About the Opportunity The National Operations Center (NOC) has an immediate opening for Compute Operator Technicians, reporting to the NOC Manager. As part of the Federal Reserve National Operations Center, position will provide various services in support of mission critical financial applications residing on complex infrastructures consisting of mainframe and client server technology. Position supports monitoring of multi-platform environments and performs highly complex diagnosis and restoration activities, including monitoring of production batch cycles, reporting results of hardware and software health checks, assists in the execution of customer application testing and mission critical business continuity testing. Coordinates break/fix remediation efforts with hardware vendors. Monitors client server availability during a designated shift utilizing a suite of automation tools. Assists in diagnosing highly complex service disruptions affecting client server or network availability; coordinates activities for restoration of disrupted services with technical support staff. Associate level position requires general knowledge of IT field and industry practices.

What You Will Do: • Performs critical operational tasks using predefined programming languages and multiple workstation platforms that monitor the client server and infrastructure to perform network availability and status checks. Participates in day-to-day monitoring activities and provides level 1 operational incident support (recording, investigation, escalation and applying corrective actions as deemed appropriate). • Under supervision, participates in problem determination and resolution activities to ensure accurate and timely reporting of problem. Provides assistance in determining method of resolving problems utilizing hardware/software diagnostic tools and operational procedures. • Assists with coordination activities by operations staff and vendor support personnel in resolving hardware problems affecting client server availability and may provide secondary support in monitoring and reporting problems. Uses problem investigation tools to assist in analyzing the source of problems, escalates as needed and appropriately records details of the problem in incident monitoring and reporting software tools. Initiates and executes change control records assigned to the National Operations Center. • Performs additional routine duties as assigned based by shift lead to ensure customer requirements are delivered in an accurate, complete and timely manner. • Performs other related duties as assigned] by shift lead or manager.

Qualifications: Knowledge: Requires fundamental knowledge of client server concepts, principles and infrastructure., Technical knowledge and/or experience in supporting Windows, Solaris, Linux, AIX operating systems and VMWare. Windows, Redhat Linux or AIX certification is desired. Basic knowledge of network concepts, principles and components is desired, but not required. Communications: Strong oral and written communication skills and attention to details are required. Possesses ability to express technical information into clear business terms easily interpreted by customers. Acts as a team player, is cooperative and encourages team collaboration. Identifies documentation gaps and assists in correcting gaps as directed. Risk Management: Is responsible for understanding and applying risk management discipline in decision making, and contributing to his or her function`s risk management. Decision Making: Works with a team; requesting guidance as needed. Considers input from diverse sources and makes sound business decisions. Follows standard practices in performance of duties or routine work; refers questions that do not fall within established methods and procedures to senior level employees or leadership. Other/Additional Requirements: Working Conditions: Will require the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, etc. Must be skilled at using monitoring tools and technologies, incident reporting systems, Microsoft Office Suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other IT tools (SevOne, BMC Patrol, Control-M, Omnibus) Physical Demands: Requires some degree of sitting (for prolonged periods of time), standing, lifting carrying, pushing, pulling more than 20 lbs. May be exposed to moderate noise from equipment.

This opening is for the Night shift. Night shifts are: 7PM to 7:15AM (Eastern) May be subject to on-call and call back as needed. Schedule is subject to change over time. Weekend coverage is required.
