As an intern of Siemens Government Technologies, you will be given individual and group assignments that are designed to provide you with experience in a corporate environment and develop your business acumen.SGT’s Legal and Contracts team is looking for a Regulatory Analyst intern, that will focus on improving the day-to-day processes within a business function by performing research on complex legal issues and assisting on a wide array of business transactions, with the ultimate goal of better serving the department’s internal clients. The candidate can expect a mixture of on-the-job and real world exposure of not only the legal and contracts support functions, but other cross-functional business operations during the internship period. Just as importantly, the candidate will have an ongoing opportunity to engage with legal and contracts professionals and have meaningful conversations that can influence future career decisions.Responsibilities: Monitor changes to procurement laws and related regulations, and assist in development and submission of internal client-facing updates on changes or policy issues relevant to the company Assist Legal, Contracts and Compliance department with regulatory research and regulatory filings. Assist Legal and Structured Finance teams on closing of financial and M&A transactions, including but not limited to administration of closing checklists, preparation of signature pages and officer certificates, and tracking of post-closing items Support maintenance of corporate governance and administration for relevant legal entities. Maintain legal archive documents and advise and assist on organizational document information and management practicesThe expertise the candidate will develop in the role: Ability to break down and understand complex legal and regulatory problems Understand the process of memorializing contractual deals where the U.S. Government is the ultimate customer Learning how to work and communicate within a large, multinational company with several affiliate entities Organizing the elements of closing both simple and complex transactions Counseling internal clients on potential risks and opportunities associated with certain business decisions Enhanced communication and advocacy skillsRequirements: Cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher preferred Rising junior or above Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in public policy, political science, economics, or a related field. Ability to deal with ambiguity in a fast-paced environment Good organizational skills, including time management and extreme attention to detail Propensity to be self-guided (manager will be largely remote from Reston office) Demonstrated ability to collaborate with others on projects and assignments to achieve optimal results. Proficient with Microsoft Office Programs. Creativity in problem solving and alternative solutions. Proven ability to present information in both 1 on 1 and large group settings.
