Operations is uniquely positioned within the company, supporting almost every product Microsoft offers which presents upstream and downstream dependencies.Position Description:The Risk Manager will support the Microsoft Federal Operations team to continue to set up the risk and compliance environment as the business is poised to grow significantly over the next few years. Additionally provide thought leadership and advise on projects across the Governance Risk and Compliance team contributing to the strategy and direction of key projects.ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities:Independent contributor to contribute to the development, management and modernization of processes, tools and reporting necessary to ensure a robust risk and compliance environment in the Microsoft Federal Operations space.

Bring a mindset of continuous improvement toward the routines and processes and procedures as it relates to the federal operations program

Coordinate, measure and monitor the development of the risk and compliance strategy for the Federal Operations Space

Must be a self-starter who can take the initiative and work with minimal direction when necessary.

Trusted Advisor: Serve as a trusted advisor and counselor to the Sr Director Operations Management and her/his leadership team. Engage and advise global risk and compliance for on Federal risk and compliance matters.

The successful candidate will be able to work well under pressure and deadlines, must be flexible and have the ability to manage through ambiguity and uncertainty.

Collaboration - liaison with key partners/stakeholders and team members to orchestrate alignment of compliance and risk activities within the Federal operations organization

Anticipate and Mitigate Risk: Risk Identification and Disposition: Proactively identifies, prioritizes, compares, connects, and interprets operational risks.

Uses their multi-business function, support/service, and product and operational risk perspective to assimilate information from multiple sources, and identify key drivers, variables, trends, and business scenarios to inform business decisions.

Draws from deep expertise and proven analytical tools and methodologies for risk assessment. Works across teams to challenge assumptions and present actionable recommendations for how to manage the business through analysis.

Risk Management: Manages risks using risk management tools, processes, and methods to ensure that the business meets its accountability requirements.

Prioritizes (and deprioritizes) risk assessment information appropriately, to articulate and provide insight into business group risk themes or areas.

Models inclusive behaviors that enables a culture where all ideas are welcomed and the psychological safety exists for people to take risks and achieve big goals

Role models desired behaviors and has influence outside of his or her reporting structure. Establishes networks across the company to influence change plans, early in the design phase and across extensive business areas. Sought out for opinions and advice on change.

Drives risk escalation and mitigation, liaising between operations stakeholders and Microsoft Federal groups

Risk Information and Reporting: Efficiently obtains and presents relevant, accurate data from existing and emerging data sources. Develops tools, frameworks, and processes to enable partners to prioritize risks and drive decisions that protect or create shareholder value.

Uses knowledge of both the business and its operational risks to define a strategy to initiate change and operationalize action. Evangelizes the desired future to drive change. Drives culture shifts with direct and indirect stakeholders to create readiness for change and to influence behavior.

QualificationsBasic Qualifications:At least 5 years of work experience

3+ years root & preventative cause analysis experience in a professional setting.

Experience bringing structure and processes to increase risk and compliance standards

US Citizenship: The successful candidate must be a U.S. Citizen. Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of US Citizenship to meet federal government security requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:Broad understanding of risk and compliance.

Operational thinker and problem solver with excellent analytical and reporting skills.

Proven communication abilities to drive and maintain credibility, generate trust, and form alliances with internal and external stakeholders and partners.

Curiosity to understand current and emerging risks facing corporate leaders and the technology industry, including current and emerging digital innovations and trends.

Exceptional executive communication and interpersonal skills with the proven ability to transfer knowledge and inspire a growth mindset.

Knowledge of and practical experience with FAR, DFARS, commercial item procurement, cybersecurity, ITAR, Trade Agreements Act, national security, small business set asides and small business subcontracting, and other unique U.S. Government contracting requirements
