Job Description Job Title: Manager, Data Science, Analytics Location: Reston, VA About this Role: This position draws on expertise in analysis, big data, and operations to manage and improve the processes that produce Comscore's cross-platform, digital, and television audience data. Clients around the globe rely on this information to shape business strategies and fuel advertisement buying and selling. This dedicated leader motivates staff and collaborates with teams across the company to ensure that quality data are delivered on schedule. Problems that our products solve: What, where, when, and how do people consume TV and digital content across platforms? Which networks, sites, and platforms are driving shifts in the behavior of content consumption? How and where is traditional TV viewing shifting towards internet connected devices? What is the total audience for publishers with fragmented content across traditional TV platforms, desktop and mobile platforms, as well as Over-The-Top? About our team: We are a small but powerful team of data scientists and analysts, driving processes that analyze over 20 TB of data each day to deliver products and provide insights to clients. We use SQL, Spark, R/Python, and many other tools. We work with Product on what issues to solve and collaborate with developers and statisticians on how to solve these problems. We love to learn and tackle difficult challenges. What You'll Do:- Develop efficient, workable production solutions that perform prescribed research methods and business rules
- Apply statistical analyses and data visualization techniques
- Partner with developers, statisticians, and product managers to deliver timely, high-quality product data
- Design, develop, and implement creative quality assurance tests that validate source data and production output
- Support statistical teams that research and evaluate new methods
- Exercise experience in the development lifecycle through analysis, design, development, testing and deployment of improvements to business processes
- Manage and motivate staff to high levels of team performance
- Bachelors degree in a quantitative subject such as Statistics, Operations Research, Engineering or Computer Science
- 3-5 years of experience analyzing data, thinking creatively, and solving complex problems under pressure
- 2 years of management experience leading an analytical team
- Record of success managing critical processes and teams in a fast-paced business environment with competing priorities, vague requirements, and rapid iterations
- Strong software development skills and expertise designing efficient SQL queries of big data
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Familiarity with JIRA and Git
- Experience with Hadoop or other comparable distributed file systems
- Ability to develop advanced analytical solutions in Python or Spark
- Knowledge of statistical software (ideally, R) or scientific computation software
- Experience conducting research and analytics with digital or TV audience data
