Job Description

The Navy Continuous Training Environment (NCTE) System Engineer is responsible for administration, maintenance, and tuning of all Navy's Enterprise Tactical Training Network (NETTN) client/server architecture used to support the development, testing, and delivery of enterprise-wide modeling and simulation applications and services for the NCTE. Candidate will be part of a team that performs system engineering, system integration, hardware and software support, and technical and administrative support services for systems within the Navy's Enterprise Tactical Training Network (NETTN). Candidate will provide IT services and support baseline updates, installation services, software support services, and system administration services. Candidate will provide services for any and all phases of system engineering, integration and support to ensure customers meet mission goals and objectives. These efforts include the full range of infrastructure design, implementation and integration, including, but not limited to, concept development, planning, requirements definition and analysis, systems design, integration, testing, implementation, deployment, support and sustainment.

Essential Job Responsibilities

Experience with RedHat Enterprise Linux, as well as experience working in Virtualized environments (i.e., VMware) • Experience with Satellite • Experience with IDM preferred • Basic understanding of Active Directory preferred • Experience with Microsoft Windows 10, Server 2012 and 2016 preferred • Experienced with Remedy ticketing system • Experienced with help desk troubleshooting protocols • Experienced resolving basic technical issues by providing scripted guidance regarding software and hardware problems • Experience resolving more complex technical problems through a defined escalation process • Experience with upgrades, migrations and integration • Experience installing release upgrades • Must be able to lift at least 50lbs • Must have or be able to obtain Security + and Linux OS certifications • Needs strong oral and written communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent judgment and self-motivation. • Works independently with little to no supervision researching new technologies or comparing technologies to meet the customers need while providing an unbiased opinion. • Ability to write, read and digest technical documents • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues within multiple systems • Must currently hold and be able to maintain a US Secret security clearance. • Candidate must be able to support alternate work schedules during upgrade events and cybersecurity surge efforts. These schedules may include shift work and weekend work for a duration of 1-2 weeks during major events which typically occur 1-2 times per year • Security Clearance: Secret

Minimum Qualifications

3 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 1 year relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 7 years relevant experience.Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology.

Preferred Requirements

• Experience with ansible preferred • Strong customer focus, including the ability to manage customer needs and multiple work priorities
