Job Description

Would you like to be part of a high-level engineering team supporting the collaboration requirements for large network enterprises for the US Navy and US Air Force? Would you like to dramatically increase your skills and knowledge as a professional, working with a very senior team employing advanced designs and solutions? The Network Engineer in this position will be providing network engineering and architecture support to a dedicated enterprise Navy and Air Force operational and training networks. Responsible for design, development, documentation, testing, troubleshooting, and implementation of network voice and video technologies, capabilities, and solutions that are integrated into a globally distributed enterprise network. This position will report to the Network Division Lead, working under a Senior Network Engineer as the team lead. The candidate will develop and submit Bill of Materials (BOMS) for hardware, software, and other resources required for development and implementation. The engineer will develop architectural and technical briefs on the design, capabilities, and functional operation of networking technologies and projects for peer-review with Network Engineering and other divisions. Transition and implementation plans will be developed which provides a plan of action and milestone schedule for successful completion of projects. These plans will account for all aspects of the solution including a demonstrated understanding of all customer data transport requirements, required network equipment and cabling, service interruptions, risk mitigations, and effects on information assurance and security posture. The engineer will support the implementation and execution of the installation and transition plan including physical installations and network configurations at local and remote CONUS and OCONUS sites for VoIP and VTC infrastructure.

Essential Job Responsibilities

CCNA Collaboration Certification required. • CCNP Certification desired • Security+ Certification required • In-depth knowledge of VoIP and VTC architecture, design, and protocols including H.323, SIP, RAS, SCCP, H323, as well as VoSIP. • In-depth knowledge of LAN and WAN networking design, equipment, and transport topologies including GRE, Fiber Optics, VLANs, Ether channel, and IPv4 subneting. • In-depth knowledge of IP networking fundamentals including OSI model, frame and packet structure. • Experience in supporting engineering, development, and deployment of VoIP and VTC designs and architectures, as well as installation. • Experience with Department of Defense Security Technical Implementation Guidelines. • Strong ability to design, develop, document, test, and field networking capabilities incorporating security, high availability, flexibility, and remote administration. • Strong ability to visualize overall view of systems and conceptualize and document technical solutions. • Strong technical network troubleshooting skills with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues within multiple systems and networks at the protocol/packet level using sniffers, protocol analyzers, netflow, etc. • Experience writing technology briefs, white papers, test plans, and presentations. • Familiarity with network and performance monitoring tools (like Solarwinds, HP NA, Cisco IP SLA, PRTG). • Experience interfacing with senior management. • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills. • Must be willing to travel CONUS and OCONUS. • Be able to conduct troubleshooting with the Real-Time Monitoring Tool (RTMT). • Be able to troubleshoot using status messages on VoIP phone and verify network switch configuration for VoIP connectivity. • Be able to configure and verify Cisco IP VoIP Phones IP assignment by means of DHCP and Static assignment. • Must be a US Citizen able to obtain and maintain a US Secret security clearance.

Minimum Qualifications

2 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 0 years experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 years relevant experience.

Preferred Requirements

• Familiarity with Call Routing /Translation Pattern /Route Pattern, Device pools, Regions, Calling Search Space, Partitions, SIP Trunks, and Inter Cluster Trunks. • Familiarity in network security and its tools including but not limited to NAC, 802,1x, port-security, firewalls, IDS/IPS.
