Survey Instrument Operator needed for our Yorktown office. Must be detail oriented and have excellent communication skills and be willing to work in an outdoor environment. Candidate should live within driving distance to our Yorktown, Virginia office. Experience is preferred but not required. WE ARE WILLING TO TRAIN THE RIGHT CANDIDATE! Candidates should have 1-2 years of surveying experience and be proficient in the use and maintenance of survey instruments (GPS, robotics, data collectors, level rods, etc). Experienced in all aspects of land surveying including boundary surveys, topographic surveys, construction staking, etc. Ability to read and understand construction plans a plus. Experience is preferred but not required. WE ARE WILLING TO TRAIN THE RIGHT CANDIDATE! .

Candidates for this position should have:

-Prior Land Surveying Experience (preferred but not required)

-High School Diploma or Equivalent

-Valid Driver's License

Our ideal candidate will be able to perform the following job duties:

Act as instrument operator for a field survey crew engaged in making plane and/or geodetic surveys for construction, topographic, right-of-way, and control survey projects

Gather field survey data through use of conventional methods; sets up, adjust, and operate surveying equipment, including electronic total station, data collector to measure distances, elevations, and angles.

Prepare field notes and drawings.

Perform field surveying for roadway, bridges, and flood control projects, including installing surveying construction stakes, tying out existing intersection ties, and locating or establishing vertical and horizontal control, right of way, monuments, corners, boundaries, and property lines.

Prepare finished grade sheets, topographic maps, records of survey, corner records, and other survey reports.

Research existing record information, including record maps, plans, deeds, easements, and right-of-way documents; and maintain field data records.
