The Defense Airborne Solutions Group currently has a dynamic job opportunity for an IT Support Lead located in Manassas, VA, in support of the Airborne Reconnaissance Low - Enhanced (ARL-E) program. ARL-E is a multi-year program supporting the U.S. Army with upgrading and enhancing the Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities of their airborne reconnaissance fleet. The ARL-E team is geographically separated with primary duty locations of Aberdeen, MD and Manassas, VA

As the IT Support Lead, you will perform troubleshooting, maintenance, and root cause analysis on an Airborne ISR (AISR) system. As a part of a multi-company team, you will maintain Mission Equipment Payloads (MEP) on the aircraft, perform system checkout, and support the Test & Evaluation (T&E) team throughout the contractor testing and system fielding. This position provides the oversite of the Manassas Systems Support Team and reports to the IT Integration and Support IPT Lead. You will be required to coordinate all support activates with the other Leads and the Flight Operations Manager. Additionally, you will work closely with the T&E IPT lead to ensure that we are successful in producing a quality product for the customer, with the primary focus on troubleshooting and resolving issues found in government and civilian software solutions, airborne sensors, and hardware. You will be responsible for providing documentation, metrics, analytics, test information, and feedback to the IT Integration Lead in efforts to close the feedback loop from support activities to integration activities; you will work with IA personnel to integrate security updates and patches to the system, and work with the FSR personnel to troubleshoot and isolate problems that cross over from software to hardware to establish root cause. This position is primarily the day shift but may flex as needed.

Primary Responsibilities -Provide technical oversite of the Manassas Systems Support Team comprising of up to 5 System Administrators-Review, assign, and close all software problem tickets for assigned systems-Coordinate third party support as needed from vendors, government, sub-contractors, and Leidos augments-Enforce the Configuration Management workflow and follows procedures for recording system deficiencies-Communicate with internal and external organizations including multiple customer organizations, sensor OEMs, and engineering staff-Maintain the MEP software including Red Hat Enterprise Server, Windows Servers, Windows Workstations, and VMWare ESXi servers-Review solutions to problems to ensure baseline is maintained or an engineering change request is submitted-Report all deviations to baseline via approved methods-Support the launch and recovery process-Assist IA with account management, installation of patches, and security scans as required.-Repairs, reconfigurations, and installs mission software in accordance with the baseline documentation-Maintain necessary credentials to have Administrator access to the MEP (TS/SCI, Security+, OS Certification, etc.)-Maintain and utilize knowledge of current industry standards and best practices-Maintain and utilize knowledge of current security guidelines and how they are implemented in the current system

Day to Day Activities Include :-Attend flight briefings, post flight briefings, and support meetings-Analyze requirements of each mission set and ensure the required sub-systems are functional prior to flight.-Present, document, and explain in detail, system faults and non-mission-capable sub-system issues-Respond to canceled flights due to Mission Engineering Package (MEP) software failures-Develop corrective action plans to be presented to the IT Integration Lead based on rood cause analysis-Maintain account lists and validation of user accounts within each sub-system-Plan and execute support efforts for aircraft computing systems and subsystems-Manage and enforce software configuration management standards-Create and maintain documentation associated with support activities-Consolidate daily situational reporting for the team with support metrics and provide daily report to leadership-Maintain performance of subsystem as systems are tested and checkouts completed-Troubleshoot to isolate system faults and perform repairs-Assist leadership with planning schedules and ensure proper personnel coverage for support activities-Provide feedback on supplied software and associated documentation

Job Qualifications

To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below

-Ability to obtain and maintain a CompTIA Security+ CE certification prior to, or within 90 days from date of start-Bachelor's degree in a related technical discipline with a minimum of 4 years' of related work experience, or a Master's degree with a minimum of 2 years of related work experience; additional years of related work experience required in lieu of a degree-Possess strong troubleshooting, problem solving, and communication skills.-Experience managing an IT support team-Willing to work around flight schedule to accomplish mission that will include late night and early morning hours.-A minimum of 25% travel may be required to support activities at each of the primary duty location as well as CONUS test ranges.- Must have proficiency in most of the following :
  • VMware ESXi 6.5 and 6.7 single host environments: Resource allocations (CPU, RAM, Hard Drive, Network, etc.), Networking (vSwitch operations), Performance tuning, Hardware Pass-through
  • Domain Controllers: Domain Trusts, Group Policy Objects (Types of policies, where they are located at, and WMI filtering), Group Policy Preferences, Security Groups, Users/Computers management
  • DNS Operation: Types of records, Capabilities and Settings
  • File servers: Types of file sharing protocols (SMB, NFS, FTP, etc.), NTFS Permissions, SMB Permission, NFS Permission, Pros/Cons of the different protocols
  • Red Hat version 7: Administration, Networking, Secure Environment, Troubleshooting
  • Windows 10 and Server 2016: Administration, Networking, Troubleshooting
  • Networking: vLAN, port types, subnetting, switching, routing
  • Cross Domain Solutions: Purpose, Functionality
  • Encryption Devices and Methods: Identifying proper connections, Disarming, TPM, BitLocker, Self-Encryption
  • Tactical Radios: PRC1117 or similar

Security Clearance Required- A current DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance and the ability to maintain this level of clearance

Preferred Qualifications - Ability to obtain and maintain a CI Poly- Scripting (BASH, PowerShell, and XML)- Java Programming (debugging and code review)- Database administration (MS-SQL, Oracle, PS-SQL, etc.)- ISR Sensor installation, configuration, and maintenance- Civilian and/or military experience with Airborne programs- Experience with integrating networking hardware/software into Airborne Platforms
