SummaryAbout the Position: This position is located at the Fort Belvoir Community Hospital in the Director of Healthcare and Strategic Operations, Department of Quality Management, Credentials. The work performed in this position is normally performed in an office setting which is adequately lighted, ventilated and climate controlled. This position requires long periods of sitting and reading, plus carrying of light objects such as files, records, and books.ResponsibilitiesUpon receipt of individual credential files, you will establish and maintain a Practitioner Credentials File (PCF) for each physician, advance nurse practitioner, and Allied Healthcare Provider (AHCP) assigned/contracted to the MTF.Prime-source verifies documentation to include diplomas, licenses, certification, medical specialty training, board certification, continuing medical education credits, etc.Prepare and maintain Provider Activity Files (PAF) for privileged providers and ensure all privileged providers maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and/ or maintain current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.Research and abstracts active and inactive provider files in response to a variety of requests for information on providers privileged by this facility.Responsible for coordinating actions, setting priorities, and meeting objectives or deadlines.Submits requests, if required, for validation of credentials information from state licensing/certification agencies, specialty boards, educational institutions, and civilian and military hospitals.Prepares and dispatches over own signature correspondence responding to or requesting references or verification of credentials of health care providers.Uses the full range of keys, codes, and function commands of the various software packages to manipulate texts to accomplish formats, revisions, deletions, and additions desired by the staff.RequirementsConditions of EmploymentQualificationsWho May Apply: Only applicants who meet one of the employment authority categories below are eligible to apply for this job. OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration, Healthcare Management or Healthcare Administration (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Superior Academic Achievement: Successful completion of all the requirements for a bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement. In order to be creditable under this provision, Superior Academic Achievement must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled. Qualifications for Credentials Program Specialist, GS-09: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes using an automated data processing system to accomplish a wide range of clerical, statistical, and data entry/retrieval tasks in support of administrative work; verifying that providers applying for clinical staff privileges possess appropriate and current qualifications; prioritizing credentialing actions to ensure providers maintain privileges; assisting in conducting annual reviews of clinical privileging documents. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Hospital Administration or Health Care Administration. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.
