The Fitness and Aquatics Instructor is responsible for enforcing the rules and policies of the fitness center by monitoring the Fitness/Aquatics center and all the participants. They must learn how to correctly use the fitness equipment and be able to provide assistance when needed. They work closely with residents and associates to create customized exercise programs based on physical assessments. They lead fun and energetic group classes to include Cardio Drumming, Tabata, Square Dancing and PWR Circuits to name a few. Our facility features two indoor saline pools, a spa, an enclosed walking track that overlooks the pools and two studios to lead classes in. The exercise room includes three treadmills, two Ellipticals, five NuSteps, one recumbent bicycle, one recumbent elliptical, one seated total trainer, a free-weight station with medicine balls, dumbbells and ankle weights, and a seven-machine resistance training circuit with HUR air resistance.

Responsibilities

Provide a safe environment for residents and instruct them on the proper and safe use of fitness equipment.

Counsels and assists residents with individual, customized exercise programs based on physical assessments.

Instruct water aerobics, water exercise programs, rise and shine and balance classes as needed and work with Coordinator to develop new programs.

Knowledgeable on how to correctly use and adjust equipment, inspect for maintenance problems.

Qualifications

Experience in a fitness facility, leading classes or personal trainer.

Excellent communications skills.

Strong ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of residents and associates.

Available to work evenings and weekends as required.

Requirements

Certification in personal training and/or group exercise.

CPR and First aid certification.

High school diploma, GED or equivalent years of experience.

Bachelor's degree in exercise science or similar field preferred.
