Senior Linguist/Cultural Expert – Chinese

Description

SAIC is seeking a Sr. ChineseLinguist and Cultural Expert (Cantonese Preferred), to work on a diverse teamof analysts, linguists, cultural experts, and operations officers.

The successful candidate will be focused oncreating and recognizing targeting opportunities and strategies in thecyber-realm.

Additionalresponsibilities may include :

Exhibiting an expertise in theChinese language and culture

Assisting intelligence and analysisoperations in a virtual environment; primarily using mix of Chinese / Englishin-language reading and writing skills

Navigating social media, open sourceand relevant forums / websites in Chinese language

Applying in-depth knowledge ofdesktop applications and internet-based research skills with the ability toeffectively use internet search tools, and advanced research methods

Identifying and Reporting potentialtargets and trends

Assisting intelligence and analysisoperations

Producing incident, threat, andinformation reports

Working in a team of variousgovernment, subcontractor, and SAIC personnel.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :

Minimum of nine (9)years of experience with a Bachelor’s Degree in International Studies orrelated field; or a Masters and seven (7) years or more experience.

Additionalyears of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Minimum DLPT 3 / 3 / 2 / 2 or Equivalent(ILS, ILR, ALTA) in Chinese

At least 5-7 years of experiencewithin the US military or US intelligence community

Working knowledge of popular,legacy, and new social media, blog sites, and mobile applications.

Knowledgeable of idioms,colloquialisms, slang, and have a sophisticated understanding of the cultural,social, and political environment in which the language is used

Preparing information reports withexcellent writing and briefing skills (in English)

Proficiency in Microsoft Officeproducts

Willingness to work outside normalbusiness hours (but this position is not shift work)

Former Military linguistic experience(35P, 09L, 1N3, 2671, 2712, 2799, or equivalent)

Expert level knowledge ofmultiple Chinese dialects, to includeCantonese, Mandarin, etc.

REQUIREDCLEARANCE :

Active Top Secret Clearance with abilityof obtain SCI and pass a polygraph (PR within 6 years)
