Serbian-Croatian Language Instructor

ICA is currently seeking experienced Serbian and Croatian language instructors, to teach adult professionals at our location in Arlington, VA. The candidates should have at least two years of work experience teaching the target language to adult students on an intensive basis (4-8 hours a day). Due to the ongoing circumstances related to the coronavirus pandemic, the class may start in an online setting. Job Details:Period of Performance: three classes, 11/2/2020? 9/30/2021

Number of Students: two individual classes and a group of two students

Estimated Training hours:

Project 1: 210 instructional; 70 preparation hours (two students, 2 Nov 2020 ? 18 Dec 2020)

Project 2: ? 210 instructional; 70 preparation hours (one student, 2 Nov 2020 ? 18 Dec 2020)

Project 3: 1,440 instructional; 480 preparation hours (one student, 2 Aug 2021 ? 29 Jul 2022)

Schedule: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm (6 hours of teaching + 2 hours of preparation)

Duties:Plan and conduct target language classes using a variety of teaching techniques and approaches, to develop student?s listening, reading, and speaking skills;

Administer weekly quizzes and assessments, and conduct other informal or formal evaluations of student?s learning progress;

Provide monthly written reports of the student?s progress to the supervisor and jointly develop plans to address any potential issues;

Maximize the use of instructional technology and online learning resources into teaching to support independent learning;

Adjust teaching techniques and approaches to the student?s individual learning styles and professional needs;

Propose and participate in beyond-the-classroom cultural activities in the school and in the DC metro area, such as visits to foreign embassies, cultural centers, restaurants, and shopping areas where native speakers live, to promote cultural learning.

Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor?s or Master?s degree in foreign language, linguistics or a related field

Minimum two years of full-time experience teaching adult students

Experience teaching US military students

Familiarity with DLPT, OPI, and other government administered tests

Knowledge of the ILR scale

Experience integrating instructional technology in teaching and assessment

Experience using online meeting platforms for teaching such as Zoom, Teams, or WebEx

Native speaker of Serbian and Croatian language
