- Improve or create the look and feel of interactive products
- Turn data into compelling story telling through visualization
- Create pleasing, intuitive and easy-to-use UIs based on wireframed prototypes and other product specifications
- Ensure UI designs meet business requirements, accessibly standards, and UX best practices
- Analyze user feedback and website data to inform creative work
- Work with the customers throughout the product’s life cycle to upkeep and enhance the product
- Collaborate across teams — project management, research, data science, content creation, business analysis, UX, social & SEO strategy, and programming — to produce most informed and best tailored design solutions
- Build wireframes or rapid mockups to conceptualize designs and convey UI plans to partners and clients
- Deliver impeccable design assets and styleguides to developers
- Work with satellite imagery to create research visualizations
- Assist in user research and analysis (e.g., proof of concept testing, stakeholder interviews, web analytics mining
- Assist in producing UX prototypes (low to high-fidelity wireframes)
- Assist in conducting user testing & quality assurance of prototypes and completed products
- Assist in estimating new work and craft proposals
- Deep experience with creating and implementing UI designs for a variety of interactive products, preferably for a range of clients and industries
- Proficient with one or more visual design tools (e.g., Photoshop, XD, InDesign, Sketch, etc.)
- Proficient with one or more prototyping tools (e.g., Adobe XD, Axure, Figma, Zeplin, etc.)
- Proficient with one or more office collaboration tools (e.g., Slack, Teams, Jira, etc.)
- Familiar with at least one data visualization library (D3, Plotly, etc.) and willingness to learn others
- Familiar with at least one or more mapping technologies (QGIS, Mapbox, ArcGIS, OpenStreetMaps, etc.)
- Familiar with User-Centered Design (UCD) and Development processes
- Understanding of DevOps, Agile, CMS platforms, and font-end technologies
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and diverse environment
- Experience creating visual design mockups, wireframes, and site maps
- Advanced problem-solving skills and the ability to use data for the best possible outcome
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple project efficiently, as well as dosage and track spent time against project budgets and timetables
- Mental agility to adapt and seamlessly work across project types, domains and timetables
- Clear and persuasive written and interpersonal skills
- Continued learning of UI design, UX, and relevant technology trends
- Innovative and inquisitive thinker
- Experience with coding and ability to troubleshoot using HTML, CSS and other front-end languages a plus
