211 is a vital service leveraged by millions of people across North America. Every day, clients contact 211 to access free and confidential crisis and emergency counseling, disaster assistance, food, health care and insurance assistance, stable housing and utilities payment assistance, employment services, veteran services and childcare and family services. No matter the situation, the specialists at 211 listen, identify underlying problems, and connect people in need with resources and services in their community that improve their lives. In 2018 alone, 211s in the US answered more than 11 million calls and almost 1 million texts, chats and emails, helping millions with life-changing support. There is no other network in the country that has a similar pulse on America’s needs.

POSITION SUMMARY

The 211 team at United Way Worldwide (211 UWW Team) provides coordination at the national level to a diverse network of over two hundred 211 teams across the country. The 211 UWW Team is seeking a Coordinated Networks Manager to support local United Ways and 211s in creating, convening, and fostering community networks to increase local coordination between health care and social service providers, expand data sharing activities, and generate best practices to inform future expansion of models across the United Way network.

The Coordinated Networks Manager will be motivated, detail-oriented and bring network expertise to successfully lead network projects. This position will be essential to the 211 National Initiatives Director and also work across UWW departments, collaborating within the Community Impact team, engaging the Innovations team and supporting marketing, communications and fundraising initiatives as well. The Manager will be responsible for overseeing the successful implementation of new and existing grants, including the Data Across Sectors for Health (DASH) Mentor Project and the Common Spirit Health – Connected Community Networks Initiative and will also support relationship and project management with national partners as needed.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF POSITION

An individual must be able to perform each essential duty listed below at a satisfactory level:

  • Managing project implementation including UWW participation in the DASH Mentor Program which supports a cohort of “mentee” communities in offering targeted technical assistance, subject area expertise, and group training. The Manager will mentor 8-10 United Way communities through 2021, host webinars and full group gatherings, and serve as the lead point of contact with the DASH National Program Office for project management. As part of this DASH work, the Manager will be an active member in the All In: Data for Community Health online community.

  • Engage the local 211 and United Way network to recruit, retain and develop leadership across teams, building capacities and coordination among local, state and national initiatives.
  • Support, test and document emerging collaborative efforts that seek to share data to help coordinate activities and align local systems and sectors toward common operations and outcomes.
  • Strengthen established communities’ ability to provide support and consultation and transferring skills and knowledge directly to communities with less experience developing data systems.
  • Create and disseminate specific tools/products/resources/trainings that can be shared across learning collaboratives, the 211 and local United Way networks and externally through events and communications to increase state and/or community capacity to share data and strengthen collaboration among sectors.
  • Inform United Way and 211 network data strategy
  • Support partnership and development efforts to secure national and local grants, and funding by conducting internal and external research and drafting proposal content
  • Track and ensure compliance with all grant and contract requirements associated with assigned projects
  • Other tasks as assigned

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum requirements include:

  • Strong passion for the work of the United Way and 211 networks and for serving individuals and communities through non-profit services

  • Five to seven years of full-time professional experience (may include internships)
  • Professional experience within a United Way and / or 211 agency
  • Experience leading a data sharing, care coordination, or data exchange project at the local or state level
  • Experience managing, mentoring and skills building with individuals and teams
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Advanced proficiency using Microsoft Excel and other data tools
  • Experience successfully managing complex cross-functional, time-sensitive projects
  • Demonstrated relationship management expertise, preferably with non-profit organizations
  • Proven ability to work and lead autonomously in a remote work environment with minimal supervision and to excel in an entrepreneurial, self-starting and fast paced environment
  • Experience with health and human services I&R database management a plus
