POSITION SUMMARY:

Sugarbush Resort is seeking a Lift Maintenance Technician II to join our team! This position's responsibilities are to ensure that all lifts and equipment are mechanically secure through preventive maintenance and that all lifts scheduled for public operation during the winter and summer seasons are mechanically sound for safe operation and timely opening.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work in a support position and occasionally as a lead of annual maintenance functions and special projects.
  • Locate and diagnose mechanical and electrical problems and perform necessary repairs with moderate guidance from Coordinator and Level III technicians.
  • Give accurate estimate as to how much downtime will be needed when lift is in need of repair.
  • During winter season, inspect lifts for existing or potential problems and maintain and repair lifts.
  • Perform line checks, check sheaves for problems such as bad bearings, liner wear, flat spots, and so forth.
  • Visually check chairs and towers. Perform drive checks. Check all machinery and mechanical parts of the drive station, including fluid levels, brake pads, hoses etc.
  • Perform return checks, check carriage, guide sheaves, counterweight cable, and height of counterweight, return wheel and liner.
  • During regular inspections, make necessary minor adjustments. Perform a variety of preventive maintenance work on lifts, and repair or replace worn or broken parts. When mechanical problems are reported, locate and diagnose problems and plan and perform necessary repairs or report major problems to Supervisor.
  • During summer, perform a variety of lift maintenance and construction tasks and projects.
  • Maintain tools, equipment and shop work areas. Complete daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly inspections and scheduled or unscheduled maintenance on all lifts. Minimum lift downtime, resulting from good preventive maintenance, measured by daily downtime statistics.
  • Planning and assigning work and training. Provide guidance and direction to Level I Technicians.
  • Prepare logs of maintenance and repair work done. Ensure that proper records are kept on work done on all assigned lifts.
  • Practice good housekeeping to ensure a neat, safe work area.
  • Perform assigned tasks with other departments.
  • Assist other departments as necessary.
  • Perform all tasks in an environmentally sound manner, especially in regard to proper disposal of all waste products.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 1 year of lift maintenance experience.
  • Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Must be able to work under timelines and pressure.
  • Must be able and willing to work independently as well as part of a larger team.
  • Strong guest service skills.
  • Adherence to all safety policies and procedures is a must.
  • This job requires the ability to climb and work at substantial heights and in all kinds of weather.
  • Must be able to lift and carry loads up to 100 pounds.
  • Valid driver’s license necessary.
  • Requires working on weekends and holidays.
  • Must recognize and adhere to safety concerns and established protocol.
  • Must be comfortable working with and around electricity, and in confined areas such as machine rooms and control panels.
