Responsibilities

  • A Materials Control Specialist goal is to control all raw material and finished goods, to support the lab operations.

  • Coordinates inventory activities with manufacturing, purchasing, and accounting to minimize waste and maximize production.

  • Analyze, investigate, and correct inventory discrepancies.

  • Conduct cycle counts, transact cycle count quantities, and identify root cause of variances and corrective actions to be taken.

  • Assist with the preparation for all physical inventories including but not limited to: training, assigning resources for the inventory, and resolving all variances.

  • Implement improvements to the physical inventory process to minimize waste and improve accuracy and efficiency.

  • Data entry into an inventory system to maintain up-to-date and accurate data for all materials used in the laboratory manufacturing process.

  • Other tasks and projects identified and directed by management.

  • Manage Bill of Materials in MRP system.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required. B.S. Degree preferred

  • 2-4 years of working with vendors in cost control

  • Computer knowledgeable; all MS Office programs and Oracle-preferably Oracle E-Procurement

  • Experience in supply chain management

  • Good written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment with quick changing priorities

  • Experience in a Bio-Tech/Pharmaceutical purchasing department is a plus

Physical & Lifting Requirements

  • Lifting Requirements - medium work or exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pound of force frequently, and 10 pounds of force consistently.

  • Physical Requirements - stationary positioning, moving, operating, ascending/descending, communicating, observing, reaching and repetitive motion.

  • Use of equipment and tools necessary to perform essential job functions.

  • Hazards and Atmospheric Conditions - exposure to fumes, dust, extreme temperatures, wet and/or humid, noise, vibration, mists or gases, mechanical hazards, chemical hazards, electrical hazards and radiant energy hazards. OSHA Category I - duties performed routinely requires exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue.
