Job Summary

Carterra is looking for an experienced Mechanical Designer to join our Engineering team in designing products in the life sciences industry.

Here are Carterra, you will be an important part of the design team by executing high quality mechanical designs in Solidworks at both the individual component level as well as the entire system level. This role will also require hands on work to help build and test designs as needed.

Requirements:

· 5 years engineering or designing experience

· Proficient in Solidworks 2020 or later

· Experience designing complex mechanical systems as per requirements or engineering specification.

· Experience designing components that are fabricated in a variety of ways. For example, CNC, Sheetmetal and injection molding.

· Experience designing and maintaining sub system and top-level system models with many parts.

· Willing to wear many hats as needed in a small company

· Ability to work and communicate well with other interdisciplinary engineers.

· Experience working within Solidworks PDM or another PDM system is a plus.

· Experience executing ID elements such as product skins and other user facing components is a plus.

Responsibilities

· Work within the new product development process to execute designs both for 3D models as well as detailed drawings and assembly views.

· Work within Carterra’s change management system to execute change orders for existing products as needed.

· Communicate designs effectively to engineering team members. Provide feedback and suggestions to designs.

· Maintain top level assembly of existing and new products, taking part in larger initiatives to align CAD and BOM and continually improve our mechanical documentation.

· Assist with changes as needed to other system documentation such as fluidics and other process diagrams.

· Communicate with vendors as needed for prototyping and ensuring manufacturable design.

· Create a positive working environment around you.

· Responsible for meeting deadlines and reaching beyond the “job description” at times to get things done.
