The inpatient Stem Cell Transplant & Cellular Therapy unit is a 48 beds Unit. We perform around 800 transplants per year, about half of which are comprised of Allogeneic cells from sources that include matched identical, syngeneic, matched unrelated, haploidentical and cord blood donors. Stem Cell Transplant is a potentially curable treatment for many types of cancer, particularly hematological diseases such as leukemia, lymphoma and multiple myeloma. Nurses on the inpatient units are responsible for the primary care of the SCT patients including the administration of the preparative chemotherapy regimens, infusion of stem cell transplants and other cellular therapies, such as Chimeric Antigen Reactor T-cells (CAR-T), administration of supportive intravenous and blood product therapies during the engraftment period, and patient and family teaching up to and including the patient's discharge to the outpatient setting.
