Leading a team of market access professionals, this role will be accountable for all engagements with payer customers and the support needed by Cepheid’s commercial team to manage coverage and reimbursement issues/opportunities faced by Cepheid customers. The Senior Director, Market Access will be leading a team to develop and implement long term plans for all US Payers: commercial payers e.g., United Healthcare, Medicare, Medicaid, VA and Lab Benefit Managers (LBMs). This position collaborates within the internal and external matrix organization to identify and pursue-test areas of mutual opportunity with payers based on better health outcomes for patients and appropriate medical policies that reflect the published clinical evidence and guidelines.The Senior Director of Market Access, Americas, is within the Government Affairs and Market Access organization and will be Remote and may include domestic and international travel up to 30%. This organization influences and provides input to the strategy of the Company and ensures optimal access to its addressable markets. The Sr. Director Market Access, Americas, will report to the Senior Vice President of Government Affairs and Market Access (GAMA) who overseas Government Affairs, Market Access Strategy, Health Economics and Outcomes Research and Regional Market Access Leaders.In this role, you will have the opportunity to: Develop both short- and long-term strategic business plans, identify KPI’s to optimize market access with payers that creates better health outcomes for the patients and solicit and assess competitor position as part of account plan development.

Work closely with internal stakeholders (Medical, Scientific Affairs, Business Development, Legal, Commercial, etc.) to provide input on resource allocation decisions for targeted US customers.

Identify Cepheid and payer customer needs and develop appropriate/relevant offerings and solutions (resources, programs, and services) to address customer needs and maximize value for the customer and our company.

Become a knowledge broker for internal stakeholders to grow market access understanding to include opportunities and barriers.

Ensure direct reports acquire and maintain a mastery level knowledge for assigned payers, Cepheid’s clinical and health economic data and commercial strategy.

Engage in strategic discussions with key customers on a regular basis, understand the (payer) customer's business strategy and support it at all levels and develop with the team Customer Account plans aligned with Managed Care and brand strategies over a 3–5-year time horizon.

Represent the voice of the payer customer and advocates on behalf of the customer in securing internal support for development and timely delivery of solutions.

The essential requirements of the job include:

Bachelor’s degree with 14+ years Managed Care experience in payer account executive/leader role (e.g. Payer, Institutional, Integrated Delivery segments) or 10 years of combined Managed Care-related experience at the Sr. Manager/Director level (e.g. Customer Team Leader, Managed Care Marketing, Solutions, Planning). OR Masters or Doctoral degree with 12+ years of same experience

4 years direct leadership experience and 4 years of account management experience.

Demonstrated business acumen (understanding broad business implications through experience working in Marketing, Sales and/or Managed Care business)

Experience working all levels of management and consulting with key business stakeholders, with the proven ability to influence for greater outcome

Strong strategic and tactical planning skills along with strong written and verbal communication skills and presentation skills

Demonstrated consultative selling skills with clinical and scientific knowledge

It would be a plus if you also possess:

10+ years of direct leadership experience
