Job DescriptionSeeking a Communications Specialist with experience in developing and executing strategic, branded, multi-channel internal and external communications. This skilled communications professional must have strong written, verbal and visual communications skills to create engaging content that strengthens and promotes the brand, corporate culture, and market position. Ideal candidates are aware of language subtleties and always craft branded messaging with the appropriate audience and objectives in mind.This individual also must be self-motivated and collaborate well with others. This role requires the ability to manage projects, multi-task, set priorities and meet deadlines with limited direction. Seeking a professional who can maintain high performance under pressure and understand processes to ensure quick and timely execution of projects. This role reports directly to the Principal, Corporate Development but works closely with other members of executive leadership and staff.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute short- and long-term communications strategies.
  • Write engaging branded content for a wide range of channels including, but not be limited to, newsletters, press releases, technical articles, social media posts, website content, video scripts, marketing pieces, speeches and advertising content.
  • Conceptualize and implement effective multi-channel campaigns with measurable results to build the brand. Channels/media include face-to-face, PowerPoint, video, social media, print collateral, e-newsletters, print and digital advertising, and press releases.
  • Conduct research to obtain interesting facts and statistics that can be used to develop branded content.
  • Align key messages in all communications to ensure consistent brand voice and to follow message framework.
  • Advise senior management on verbal and written messaging.
  • Engage as needed in media relations, including writing, disseminating and promoting press releases; responding to media inquiries; and tracking media coverage.
  • Support marketing activities as needed.
  • Work with graphic designer to develop visually appealing, branded communications and marketing pieces.
  • Develop social media content, maintain a content calendar, post assets per the schedule and track performance.
  • Provide a monthly communications plan that includes upcoming activities and performance metrics for website, social media and other communications activities.
  • Plan, write, design and disseminate a monthly employee e-newsletter.
  • Maintain communications content on our internal shared drive.
  • Develop and disseminate an external e-blast at least 6 times a year.
  • Monitor and update website content as needed.
  • Manage, leverage and document our community engagement activities.
  • Provide input and research on new tools and media to support the internal/external cascading and dissemination of communications.
  • Orchestrate involvement in all relationship management including strategic alliances, industry organizations and client/community events.
  • Attend and coordinate participation and engagement in industry events and conferences as appropriate.
  • Plan, attend and facilitate specialized business events unique to us.
  • Research industry-related events, publications and announcements, tracking individual contributors and their accomplishments.
  • Support a variety of local and corporate marketing and business development initiatives.
  • Administrative activities in support of the Principal of Corporate Development.

Qualifications and Skills:
  • A bachelor’s degree in journalism, mass communications, public relations, or a similar discipline.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Superb written, visual and verbal communication skills.
  • Follow AP standard of writing.
  • Excellent strategic planning, project management, research and analytical skills.
  • Team-oriented with a strong commitment to inclusion.
  • Skilled at translating complicated business topics into engaging storytelling content built on the brand message framework.
  • Organized and skilled in project management to effectively manage workflow and meet deadlines.
  • A good understanding of public speaking.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe InDesign and Creative Suite, social media platforms, Constant Contact, Canva, Survey Monkey or similar software.
  • Exemplifies executive presence and has a comfort level working with C-suite leaders.
  • Ability to learn about high-level aspects of civil engineering projects, the communities it serves, and the industry.
  • Strong organizational ability, detail oriented, high degree of accuracy.
