Patient Services Coordinator position on G19W - Leukemia Unit (Evening/Night)G19W Leukemia is one of three units dedicated to the care of the acute/chronic and remission Leukemia patient. The Leukemia patient is on the receiving end of some novel therapies for the treatment of their respective cancer such as Autologous Chimeric Antigen Receptor-T Cell (CAR-T cells) which has shown great clinical promise and standard/ investigational or consolidation chemotherapies. Nurses are responsible for organizing the care of the patient including the administration of chemotherapy, blood products, electrolyte replacements, monitoring the patient on telemetry and any cardiac drips. The primary nurse is also responsible for working with the primary team towards a successful discharge inclusive of patient and family teachingIdeal candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent and three years recent work experience. Prefer at least one year of recent patient care experience. Good customer services and communication skills is key as you will be interacting with patients, family members, staff and physicians in person and over the phone. Scheduling patient's visits and physician's appointments.Must be able to work a combined shift of 8 and 12 hours which includes: 3pm - 11pm/11pm-7am and 7pm-7am and 26 out of 52 weekends per year.Salary Range:Minimum: $31,200 Mid-point: $39,000 Maximum: $46,800SUMMARYFunction Coordinates tasks associated with patient services.Scope Impacts patient care services throughout MDACC.Essential Job Functions: Schedules provider appointments, diagnostic tests, procedures, and treatments. Prepares and maintains daily appointment templates and/or patient records in One Connect. Communicates all pertinent information to families, physicians, team members, and other patient care areas. Prepares patient materials and documentation according to established procedures. Collects co-payments and validates patient insurance and demographics. Updates payment and patient information Reconciles One Connect cash drawer on a daily basis. Performs validation of the Medicare Secondary Payer Questionnaire (MSPQ).Ensures coordination of benefits and assignment of Hospital Account Record (HAR). Follows standard operating procedures for institution and center. Protects the security and confidentiality of patient information at all times.REQUIREMENTSEducation: High school diploma or equivalent.Certification: NonePreferred Certification: NoneExperience: Three years customer service experience.
