Together, the different backgrounds, experiences, ideas, and perspectives of our employees drive our success.DescriptionIf you are selected as the Data Engineering Director, you will be responsible for the management of our growing data engineering team and its activities which includes driving the data analysis, data modelling, systems conversions, and data management. Data engineers build data pipelines that efficiently and reliably move data across systems and into environments that allow predictive model training, deployment into production and for data and results visualization. In this role, you will build and lead our data engineering team and help the members of your team grow both technically and professionally. You will work closely with data science and visualization teams as well as IT platforms, cloud enablement, infrastructure and security teams; you will lead the planning, execution and success of complex technical projects. The role will oversee the monitoring, optimization, and support of the development, test and production environments working closely with the database administrators, analytics architects, and IT infrastructure support to ensure system availability. This role requires a strong and current technology focus, practical analytical experience, and excellent written and communications skills.Your responsibilities may include:Hire and develop bleeding edge talent and provide technical guidance, career development, and mentoring to team members; Manage career development plans, training for direct reports and mentor and coach in-line with human resources principles. Conduct timely annual and interim performance evaluations and set individual and team objectives to cultivate a culture of high performance and teamwork. Ensure team maintains appropriate skills and competencies required to conduct operations timely, effectively and in compliance.

Participate in key technical and design discussions with technical leads in the team as a hands-on manager; Help in a full technical discovery, spotting pain points, business and technical requirements, and “as-is” and “to-be” scenarios. Work closely with other teams (platforms, data management, IT security, etc) to ensure that as a team we adopt latest technologies that can make a positive impact on producing and operating analytic models and dashboards.

Assess the full technology stack of services needed in delivering data and analytic solutions, including operations management and automation; owning the ins and outs of a system that is constantly growing and evolving while ensuring the quality of our solutions and the business continuity of our analytics systems.

Partner with key business stakeholders to prioritize work and create amazing products to support our data platform.

Act as a project manager for the projects that your team is responsible for.

Champion ConocoPhillips’ governance and compliance policies for data and processes.

Qualifications:Basic/Required:Must be legally authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or national, or an alien admitted as a permanent resident, refugee or asylee

Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems/Science, Mathematics, Statistics, other related business field, other related technical field, or foreign equivalent

5 Years of experience with database platforms such as Snowflake/Teradata with demonstrated strength in SQL, data modeling, ETL development, and data warehousing

1 years of experience mentoring and managing other Data Engineers, ensuring data engineering best practices are being followed

Advanced level of coding proficiency in at least one modern programming language (Python, Ruby, Scala, Java, etc.)

Advanced level of DevOps proficiency, including Agile development process, containers, and source code control systems

Advanced level of understanding of project processes and methodology to support Project Management initiatives and delivery (Agile, Scrum etc)

Preferred:Master's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems/Science, Mathematics, Statistics, other related business field, other related technical field, or foreign equivalent

5 years of experience building People and Teams in a technical environment – providing leadership, empowerment and establishing collaborative work practices

5 years of experience in Cloud Platforms (specifically AWS and/or Azure) or you are AWS or Azure certified

5 years of experience in messaging platforms (Kafka, Kinesis, Streaming platforms etc.)

5 years of experience with Spark any of the following programming languages:, Python, Scala

5 years of experience working with the Teradata and/or Snowflake databases or are certified

5 years of experience with data visualization/analytics tools and Excel

5 years of experience with a RDBMS, including SQL

5 years of experience with Cloud and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) in AWS and/or Azure

5 years of experience with connecting to enterprise systems

5 years of experience with handling large amount of operational data and creating ETL/ELT pipelines

5 years of experience with Python and Jupyter notebooks

5 years of experience with operational experience with AWS Cloud Formation/Azure Resource Manager

5 years of experience with data visualization/analytics tools SpotFire & PowerBI

5 years of experience with GitLab, CI/CD, Docker, VSCode, Operationalizing ML models, and Parallel/Distributed computing

5 years of experience with Oil & Gas time series data feeds in combination with historical and unstructured data

5 years of experience with Oil & Gas industry

5 years of experience with project management

5 years of experience with data virtualization

Intermediate knowledge of Mlflow

Proven track record of sharing outcomes through written communication, including an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate complex technology solutions to senior leadership, gain alignment, and drive progress

Efficient verbal and written presentation skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and persuasively
