This individual will be responsible for design, implementation and operational management of Electrical Power Monitoring Systems, reporting to DC Systems Manager. This team commissions all new site builds, new electrical infrastructure within existing buildings as we add data halls, customer cages requiring additional RPP/Bus, and manages the operations of the EPMS and BCMS (Branch Circuit Monitoring System). This team is also responsible for retrofitting existing sites and the implementation of Fieldview for power data acquisition, storage and reporting in order to properly bill customers and improve power utilization at our sites.

Essential Functions:

  • Integrate power equipment to FieldView and Foreseer - 50%
  • Troubleshoot issues related to power monitoring - 20%
  • Support & train internal users - 20%
  • Support & train junior power monitoring staff - 10%

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must have experience setting up protocol integration hardware
  • Must be able to troubleshoot Ethernet and Serial communication issues
  • Must be able to troubleshoot protocol and software issues related to power monitoring
  • Must be able to create riser diagrams using VISIO or CAD
  • Must be able to read and understand electrical and architectural drawings

Experience/Skills:

  • Must have experience setting up protocol integration hardware
  • Must be able to troubleshoot Ethernet and Serial communication issues
  • Must be able to troubleshoot protocol and software issues related to power monitoring
  • Must be able to create riser diagrams using VISIO or CAD
  • Must be able to read and understand electrical and architectural drawings
  • Computer - Must be fluent using Microsoft operating systems both desktop and server.
  • Computer - Must be fluent using Microsoft Office and Outlook.
  • Computer - Must be fluent using ModScan or other utility's related to power monitoring
  • Network - Fundamental understanding of Ethernet and IP network hardware and configuration
  • Network - Must be fluent in serial hardware, configuration, and troubleshooting
  • Interpersonal - Customer focused and results driven
  • Professional - Able to work independently while keeping focused on business priorities
  • Professional - Communicates well with all levels of management

Education:

  • Must have 3 or more years controls and power monitoring experience directly related to this position
  • Must have 6 or more years of industry experience or education in low voltage, telecommunications, networking or similarly related field

Special Working Conditions:

  • EPMS Engineers work in the following locations (travel is required):
  • Office - Typical corporate offices
  • Live Datacenter - Clean room environment where access is managed by strict security protocol
  • Live Power Rooms - Secured power distribution rooms where high voltage equipment is installed
  • Construction Sites - Sites that are under construction require construction safety training, proper PPE (hard hat, safety vest, steal toe work boots - etc. )
