The Database Administrator plays a vital role in managing and performing database administration activities in an enterprise environment. Specifically, database optimization/tuning is critical to the overall performance, scalability, high availability and security of Tax applications such the Document Management System that is critical to internal and client service staff.Primary responsibilities of this role would include owning, tracking and resolving database related incidents and requests, fulfilling requests and resolving incidents within SLAs, reviewing service related reports (e.g.: database backups, maintenance, monitoring) on a daily basis to ensure service related issues are identified and resolved within established SLAs, responding to database related alerts and escalations and working with developers to come up with strategic solutions to recurring problems.The Oracle DBA role requires a service oriented mentality, high sense of ownership of the problems and requests assigned, focus on managing and resolving issues in alignment with the SLAs, establishing and maintaining communication with technology customers to keep them updated with status of their requests, initiating and performing changes on production systems and proactively escalating any issues that cannot be resolved within the established timeframes. At least 5 years of extensive knowledge and experience in development and/or application based troubleshooting in an Oracle and UNIX environment.Extensive technical understanding that spans multiple platforms and application level expertise of a portfolio of applications with broad knowledge of the business strategic priorities, to resolve complex problems.

Experience, the more the better, and large enterprise envtExperience in generating and monitoring Oracle Service Requests (SR's)Knowledge of Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid ControlInstallation of Oracle databasesExperience in troubleshooting and resolving database problems.Experience in Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools.Experience with backups, restores and recovery models. RMAN.Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for Oracle, RAC.Experience in implementing operational automation using scripts.Knowledge of indexes, index management, and statistics.Some ability to troubleshoot Oracle PL/SQL code to rectify performance issues.Experience working with Unix, including proper operating system and disk configurations.Good communication and documentation skills.Undergraduate Degree (e.g., BA, BS) or 5 yrs IT experience
