Senior iOS Engineer, Risk

Job Description

Risk Engineering helps Square sellers grow and manage their business by providing them with the tools and services necessary to navigate financial risks they may face. This role will start by working on 2 Risk products, Contracts and Disputes, but there is broad potential to work across all of Risk’s seller-facing products. You will be the first dedicated iOS engineer within Risk Engineering and will help to build up mobile engineering in Risk.

Square Contracts formalize engagements between buyers and sellers, creating shared accountability and trust in the exchange. Square Contracts was borne out of an idea to help sellers protect themselves against payment disputes, but has evolved to be a competitive and helpful offering to sellers in the Square ecosystem. As it continues to evolve, this role has the opportunity to help shape the product roadmap.

A payment dispute is the right given to a cardholder to challenge a payment they feel is unauthorized or illegitimate. There are good reasons for cardholders to initiate disputes, but they can be some of the most painful experiences that small business owners face, no matter who they use to process their payments. Our team is here to help business owners prevent, win, and manage their disputes via the Disputes Dashboard and Square Contracts. These products directly impact Square’s bottom line, and can result in millions of dollars saved for Square sellers.

As an iOS Engineer on the team you will:

• Design and build great iOS user experiences for Risk

• Work cross-functionally with our product, design, analytics, data science, and operations teams to develop iOS applications and improve existing products

• Leverage your technical expertise to mentor other engineers on the team, raising the bar of technical execution

Qualifications

You have:

• 5+ years experience developing iOS applications

• Passion for building products that are beautiful outside and inside – from their user experience to their robust and elegant design

• A sense of customer empathy and the desire to influence product direction

• The desire to work collaboratively, whether in person, over video, or asynchronously through online tools
