Your new role

The CTO’s purpose is to set the direction and to push the boundaries of what is technically possible, for our client, leveraging creative thinking of the collective organisation and demonstrating exceptional leadership expertise. As a trusted adviser to our client and our Senior Leadership Team within IT Services, you will have the ability to balance across the strategic, tactical and technical. Whilst a thought leader, the translation of the vision and the ability to manage outcomes will see you driving the program and technical team to the next level. More importantly you will be accountable for delivering a reliable, sustainable, available and stable technical environment for the customer.

You will have inspiring and collaborative leadership style and the ability to communicate the strategic vision effectively. This will include being able to translate this vision and simplify the complex technical challenges to both your team and the client.You will also have the ability to decompose underlying irritants and impediments and work collaboratively with the IT Services leadership team, the customer and Leidos’ technology partners to prioritise and implement pragmatic solutions. This high profile career opportunity leading one of the largest, most complex and fast changing ICT accounts, where no day is the same all while making a real difference supporting Australia’s Defence Force.

As a thought leader, you will have a proven track record of delivering long term transformation for your clients, withboth commercial and operational results. In the past you will have held Enterprise level positions, engaged with customers at all levels including CTO level. As a leader, you will be a peer influencer and subject matter expert in a number of key technology domains. You will have developed a depth and breadth of technical architectural skills to support autonomous decision making. Your enthusiasm and optimism for creating an environment of growth and learning for your team will be second to none and your resilience to overcome challenges will see you succeed.

As a member of the IT Services Senior Leadership Team you will work effectively with your peers to collectively prioritise, design and evolve the technical and operational environment. You are equally capable leading and supporting initiatives within this evolution and building the necessary capability maturity within Leidos to do so.

The following technical experience would be highly desirable:

  • Public, private and hybrid cloud computing
  • Cyber operations and hardening
  • ITSM and ITIL
  • Project and program management
  • Architecture and engineering
  • SRE
  • The journey towards AIOps
  • User centric IT
  • Automation
  • The journey to software defined everything
  • SecDevOps
  • Service mapping

From a qualifications perspective you will have some or all of the below:

  • A computer science or engineering degree:
  • ITIL
  • Cloud certifications from AWS and/or Microsoft (desirable)
  • Agile (desirable)
  • Design Thinking (desirable)
  • TOGAF (desirable)
