TITLE: Technical Product Manager

SUPERVISOR: VP of Product Management and Engineering

SUMMARY

Horizon Scientific is a fast-growing manufacturer and distributor of medical and laboratory equipment with specific focus on Research and Clinical Life Science Labs within the Pharmaceutical, Biotech, Hospital and University Markets. Horizon Scientific’s 100,000 sq. Ft. facility includes sheet metal fabrication, an automated powder coat paint booth, environmental temperature testing rooms, temperature testing, mapping and data logging stations. The position is based out of the Standex Scientific Group’s (SSG), Technology Center located outside of Charleston in Summerville, South Carolina. The Standex Scientific Group is a rapidly expanding division of Salem, NH based Standex International (NYSE: SXI).

The Technical Product Manager will work in conjunction with a team of engineers to maintain and improve an extensive portfolio of medical, scientific and industrial controlled temperature reach-in products. Experience with a proven track record will be essential to facilitate a “first to the market” approach to develop and launch innovative products to be utilized in healthcare, university, pharmaceutical, bio-tech, government and industrial facilities. Market and customer intimacy that identifies opportunities followed by solid solutions will be key to customer satisfaction providing sales and financial growth. Collaborating with other key personnel within sales, marketing, quality, manufacturing, procurement and technical service will be an integral part of the position.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate elements of the development cycle for new products and provide ongoing support and improvements to the existing product lines with the primary focus being project detail coordination, ERP activities and engineering data coordination and transfer.
  • Work independently to solve problems with efficiency.
  • Assist in the data management required for various compliance bodies (UL and ETL). This position will manage and validate details associated with UL and ETL compliance activity.
  • Assist in the execution and tracking of project schedules with internal and external teams.
  • Create accurate and timely reports weekly and monthly.
  • Follow the established engineering project management process and development approach.
  • Work directly with sourcing and production leadership to help coordinate activities with suppliers to provide required materials and parts.
  • Work with sales and marketing to document critical product data and plan and prioritize necessary research.
  • Generate relevant data to determine project outputs and ensure the proper sorting and organizing of project data.
  • Conduct research to compare product features and performance characteristics.
  • Assist Sales, Marketing and Marcom departments in developing/presenting sales and training materials.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Technical Bachelor’s degree preferred, Associate’s degree required
  • 3-4 years’ experience in related field required
  • Experience with refrigeration, appliances, or medium industrial equipment preferred
  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
  • Must be able to work in a shop and lab environment using tools and other relevant instrumentation
  • Must be proficient in MS Office
  • Knowledge of ERP based systems preferred
  • Proven track record of successful product management
  • Experience in light industrial environment preferred
  • Strong technical skills, able to pick up quickly on the company’s unique systems and processes
  • Must-have good communication and interpersonal skills in order to communicate rapidly and effectively within the organization and to represent the company in professional manner
  • Must be willing and able to independently pursue assignments with maximum problem-solving resolve and minimal supervision, but must also readily ask for direction and help when needed
  • Ability to shift priorities as needed and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must pass drug screen and background check
