The Sr. Automation Engineer will support the IT department by improving the SCCM platform, building out a CMDB and establishing an IT automation plan and roadmap for Ingevity. In this role, you are responsible for defining the design/use of the SCCM platform. Then using the SCCM as the base to buildout CMDB functionality. Culminating in processes for automated functionality such as software deployment, patching and self-service for the user community.

How you will impact Ingevity:

SCCM

  • Work with Microsoft SCCM to provide user workstation baseline configuration and administration of operating systems.

  • Leverage SCCM to provide security updates, agent deployments, vulnerability patches, hotfixes and other updates to user workstations and servers.

  • Develop and maintain baseline images for servers and laptops to add the latest security updates, software versions, hotfixes, patches, etc.

  • Maintain existing packages and add new packages to the enterprise software catalog.

  • Create and administer advertisements, programs, collections, and custom reports in SCCM.

  • Troubleshoot failed SCCM deployments and SCCM health issues.

  • Administer SCCM software delivery, including various methods such as running advertised programs, machine targeted, user targeted, Application Library, and Software Center.

  • Administer the SCCM tool set back end to keep the system running and healthy, including changes to the core components and settings, software delivery, client heath, reporting, boundaries, and bandwidth settings.

CMDB

  • Design the CMDB for specific use cases as needed e.g. patching and vulnerability management, request automation, business continuity management, etc.

  • Manage the improvement of discovery processes and procedures, ensuring alignment with ITSM recommendations for CMDB.

  • Drive process standardization and automation throughout all areas in collaboration with the Service Desk and ITSM team.

  • Strong collaboration with stakeholders including internal customers, stakeholders and vendors to understand challenges and gain consensus on improved system and operational solutions.

  • Champion and enforce data integrity across the CMDB.

  • Support SOX audits and other control testing.

  • Lead execution of CMDB data certification validation campaigns.

What you need to succeed:

  • BA or BS degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business or other related fields, or equivalent experience. (MS preferred).

  • Position requires five years of relevant experience supporting projects of similar size, scope and complexity.

  • Experience in SCCM Infrastructure.

  • Advanced Level knowledge and experience in either SCCM or CMDB design, configuration, implementation and migration (preferably working knowledge of both).

  • Supporting SCCM tools (e.g. 1E Nomad, WSUS, etc.)

  • Understanding of IT Service Management (ITSM) framework and ITIL processes (or similar process framework) highly desired.

  • Self-starter with strong interpersonal, facilitation and leadership skills, along with effective verbal and written communication skills. Advanced process orientation and excellent planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Proven project management experience.

  • Strong focus on collaboration, team building, and customer service.

  • Employ time management practices that result in on-time, quality deliverables.

  • Possess the ability to manage multiple priorities and function well in a fast-paced environment.
