Job Description

As a Metallurgist, you will ensure that your subordinates adhere to safety standards and participate in safety meetings and all the SHE programs.

Your daily duties will include controlling the plant within the set technical recipe, liaising with Metallurgical Technical Engineer on plant operation, monitor and advise on the settings of operational parameters to optimize performance. Provide technical support to the production team.

Other duties include:

  • Audit the process regularly to ensure conformance to and understanding of standards
  • Monitor, trend and interpret key process parameters
  • Troubleshoot and resolve operational problems to control process within optimal recipe
  • Identify potential plant process improvements
  • Initiate and conduct personal and team technical projects with the Metallurgical Technical Engineer and Laboratory Processor
  • Develop a trusting and mutual relationships with internal and external service providers
  • Assist during breakdowns or emergencies or poor plant performances

This role is in the Processing Department at a Band 6 level reporting to the Metallurgical Technical Engineer.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering

Experience:

  • 3 years’ experience in Metallurgical Development Projects
  • Project Management Skills will be advantageous
  • Graduate development program experience will be advantageous

Additional Information

  • Computer literacy
  • Valid driver’s license - Code 08
