Role Summary :
This role will be a key leadership role within the product management function and a critical part of the broader Gas Power cost imperative.
The Lead Systems Engineer (non IT) within product management will translate functional requirements from Stakeholders (Customers, Supply Chain, Partners, etc.
and break down plant / product(s) into configurable modules / systems with defined interface control and design.
Essential Responsibilities :
They will drive configurability across the plant / product modules for cost effective business decisions optimizing the total value of our solutions while meeting market / customer needs.
They will lead the process to make the right make / buy, do / buy, and / or re-use decisions at a system / module level that defines and ultimately decides GE’s role in system / module fulfillment.
They will influence, collaborate, and work closely with the horizontal functional partners to achieve the optimal and effective decisions.
As theSenior System Architect (non IT) you will :
Own a set of modules / systems throughout their lifecycle from definition to fulfillment to servicing to end of life
Define modules / systems across the combined cycle power plant, each module’s function, requirements, parameters (e.g.
start and end points), configurability, and interfaces leading to value generating decisions at the plant level
Translates Product and Stakeholder functional requirements into module / system requirements that are clear, unambiguous and generate customer value .
focusing on configurability at the modular level
Define make / buy, do / buy, re-use strategy per module / system, assess supplier panel in the market, ensure supply contracts and specifications are structured and optimized to meet the module / system requirements that include fulfillment strategy, cost, and lead-time
Specify manage and document interface definitions and control between modules / systems to achieve lowest installed and / or lifecycle cost and allows each design and fulfilment team (internal and external partner(s)) to work independently and integrate work
For each module, defines the fulfillment strategy throughout the lifecycle which includes GE and supply chain functional roles
o Fully outsource (no GE engineering participation)
o GE solicit build to spec (GE engineers’ specification)
o GE solicit build to print (GE engineers design) etc.
Leads and / or participates in the verification / validation of designs from engineering teams and / or suppliers
Qualifications / Requirements :
Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or related field
Minimum 8 years engineering experience or like technical / operating discipline
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS :
For current GE employees, other locations may be considered.

Experience in systems engineering and systems thinking including concept development, system / product design, requirements management, risk management etc.

Understands the technical nuances and complex interrelationships within a specified system
Translate functional requirements to modular system requirements & ability to define fulfilment strategy for modular system components and manage 3rd party relationships
Technical competency across systems, manufacturing and process
Strong analytic skills with an emphasis on critical, systems thinking, root cause analysis, and business case elaboration and analysis
Quick learner and able to capture and apply new knowledge from other disciplines formally & informally
Understands how to apply different systems engineer approaches (e.g., MBSE / DBSE) Domain knowledge
Knowledge of customer need / project need / COD / pre-ITO / ITO and execution
Understand the market needs and competitive landscape to bring in best practices / improvement opportunities
Experience in provisioning optimized design / function solutions, requirements-level contracting and supplier relationship management
Prior academic or work in systems engineering
