Job Description SummaryThe Performance Design and Methods team is a critical pillar within the combined Performance and Applications organization and sits at the intersection of engineering, commercial and digital. Members of the team are responsible for defining the performance capabilities for all GE gas turbines, including heavy duty, competitor (Cross Fleet), and aeroderivative, for both new units and upgrades. The team is responsible for building and releasing thermodynamic cycle models in support of product development and product application, supporting product validation testing in the test stand and field, and driving customer issue resolution.Job DescriptionEssential ResponsibilitiesThe Performance Design and Methods team is seeking a Senior Professional Band Gas Turbine Operability & Performance Engineer to develop industry differentiating cycle optimization strategies and technologies for the next generation of HA-class gas turbines.As the Senior Operability & Performance Engineer, you will:Work as a critical member of a multidisciplinary team to invent next-gen gas turbine control concepts and operational strategies, balancing performance, product life, and cost
Lead in the energy transition, deliver the cycle solutions that will define the next generation of products in a changing industry
Lead gas turbine performance optimization exercises that maximize product value while balancing competing product requirements
Establish and communicate the source of truth for product performance and operational capability
Play an active role in defining commercial strategy for customer proposal generation support
Continuously test and learn, support product validation testing, field tuning, and product service
Develop skills and competencies of team members
Continuously improve the organizational workflow and processes
Qualifications/RequirementsBachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or related technical field
Minimum of 10 years gas turbine related engineering experience
Desired CharacteristicsMaster's Degree / PhD in Engineering from an accredited university or college
Minimum of 8 years gas turbine Combustion Aero or Controls development experience
Product testing experience at customer site or GE test stand
Familiarity with the current lineup of HA-class gas turbine product offerings
Demonstrated design creativity and problem-solving capability
Design of experiment and numerical optimization experience
Influencing, leadership and project management skills
Strong communication, organizational and mentoring skills
Edison Engineering Development Program graduate
