We have set 1.5°C-aligned emission reduction targets across all scopes because we aspire to lead by example on climate action and are committed to working across our entire value chain to help avoid the worst global impacts of the climate crisis.In this role, you will partner with teams from across the company to ensure we meet our pledge to achieve net zero emissions across our operations (scopes 1 & 2) by 2030 and half our value chain emissions (scope 3) by the same time frame. You will manage engagement with the external organizations validating our targets and auditing our climate data. You will also be responsible for setting up a cross-functional governance structure to drive internal collaboration and support the effective integration of climate considerations into functional plans, corporate policy, enterprise risk management and public disclosures.To be successful in this role, you will need excellent project management and interpersonal skills, in addition to environmental subject matter expertise. You will also need to bring your passion and firsthand experience as a resourceful change maker that can translate big ideas into measurable impact, enjoys influencing a wide range of stakeholders and responds to setbacks with resilience.As one of AVEVA’s first dedicated hires focused exclusively on climate,you will play a critical role in shaping the programs we are putting in place to cut our Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions in parallel with rapidly growing our business. These programs run the gamut from implementing energy reduction measures across our offices, procuring renewable energy, developing sustainable business travel policies, and collaborating with R&D on green software architecture principles, to engaging with our employees, suppliers, and customers on climate action.What you will do: Own implementation of AVEVA’s long-term climate strategy for our global operations, including measuring progress against our science-based targets, developing mitigation strategies, and implementing associated plans. Collaborate with Real Estate and Workplace Experience, People, Procurement, Travel, IT, R&D other key internal stakeholders to continue to align AVEVA’s operational practices to our climate commitments. Work closely with AVEVA’s Environmental Analyst on Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions inventory management and quarterly reporting, including conducting quality control activities in preparation for audits. Work closely with AVEVA’s ESG Sr. Analyst on our sustainability reporting, including serving as a climate subject matter expert for our integrated annual report, ESG benchmark surveys and customer inquiries. Take the lead on developing our climate advocacy strategy, working in close collaboration with the VP of Sustainability, and represent AVEVA in peer learning forums. Make ongoing programmatic recommendations based on best practice analysis and evaluate climate partnership opportunities that could accelerate AVEVA’s positive impact and position as a sustainability thought leader.What you will bring: 5-7 years of work experience in environmental sustainability with a focus on climate Prior corporate experience with high tech/software companies preferred; experience with companies in industries supported by AVEVA (e.g., CPG, Food & Bev, Infrastructure, Energy) Bachelor/Masters Degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Energy or Carbon Management. MBA is a plus. Matrix management experience with proven success leading internal project teams and managing external consultants. Prior experience with science-based targets, global climate reporting frameworks (e.g., CDP and TCFD) and scope 3 mitigation strategies. Proven track record of translating ideas into actions and data-driven programs. Ability to build rapport quickly and influence at all levels. Strong problem solving and analysis skill. Exemplary written and verbal communications skills. A desire to grow and contribute to our team through constructive feedback.
