Summary

Responsible for analysis, design, programming, and implementation of the most complex applications tasks and projects in the area. Devise feasible, logical procedures to resolve business problems through the use of computer resources. Formulate scope and objectives through research to develop or modify complex systems. Provide technical direction and support in the development and support of business systems software and procedures. Design, code, test and debug the most complex application programs. Contributes to the design and usability of internal and external browser based applications throughout the scope, development, and implementation process. Transforms complex concepts and requirements into usable interfaces that are aligned with business goals, user goals, and system constraints while applying best practices. Creates successful user experiences through research, feedback, analysis, testing and best practices. Plans and conducts user centered design activities.

Description

  • Design user friendly, effective, and engaging user interfaces for a variety of platforms including mobile, tablet, and desktop applications. Work with project team to rapidly prototype and iterate on multiple design solutions at the same time. Create user interface design artifacts to describe the intended user experience.

  • Identify user needs, elicit user feedback, conduct user research activities and task flow analysis to improve user experience of each application. Synthesize research findings into meaningful recommendations and actionable results. Share user data and insights with the team to communicate user needs and best practices. Test and refine design decisions based on user feedback and analytics.

  • Provide expertise regarding the integration of applications across the business. Conceive, design, and implement structures and programs to business systems software.

  • Act as an internal consultant, advocate, mentor, and change agent providing expertise and technical guidance on complex projects. Work closely with customers, business analysts, and team members to determine business requirements that drive the analysis and design of quality technical solutions. Ensure solutions are aligned with business and IT strategies and comply with the organization's architectural standards.

  • Provide design recommendations based on long-term IT organization strategy. Make recommendations towards the development of new code or reuse of existing code. Responsibilities may also include participation in component and data architecture design, performance monitoring, product evaluation and buy versus build recommendations.

  • Perform analysis, design, programming, and implementation on systems and procedures to solve complex business or scientific problems. Develop enterprise-level applications and custom integration solutions. Evaluate complex interrelationships in immediate programming area to determine how changes in one program will affect another related area.

  • Develop programming and development standards. Devise new sources of data and develop new approaches and techniques. Involved in the full systems life cycle and is responsible for designing, coding, testing, implementing, maintaining and supporting application software that is delivered on time and within budget.

  • Provide guidance to lower level programmers/analysts. Lead, plan, organize, and/or coordinate complex projects or phases of large projects. Determine and resolve problems with other systems analysts, programmers, and systems users.

  • Test designed programs, verify logic, perform any necessary "debugging," and write the documentation.

Required Education:
  • Bachelor's degree Computer Science, Information Systems, Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Behavioral Research or other job related field OR,
  • Four years of job related work experience OR,
  • Two years of job related experience plus an associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or other job related degree.

Required Work Experience:
  • Eight years of applications development, systems testing or user interface design job related experience.

Required Skills and Abilities:
  • S trong technical knowledge of user experience and usability best practices and methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of page layout and interface design concepts.
  • Solid understanding of markup and style sheet languages (HTML/CSS) and optimizing design concepts around these technologies.
  • Good understanding of graphic design and typography.
  • Demonstrates flexibility for adapting to both changing business and client needs, and a changing technical environment.
  • Advanced analytical and research skills.
  • Ability to interpret data and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization including technical and business staff.
  • Strong conceptual problem-solving skills.

Work Environment:
  • Typical office environment.
  • Fast paced, multi-plat formed environment which may require action and response 24X7 to support the technical business needs of the customer.
