Triage Production Incidents and provide DBA on-call leadership
Create standards and execute processes for designing, implementing, securing and monitoring MS SQL Server in a high-availability environment. The maintenance should include database consistency checks, index defragmentation, index statistics management, and any other items needed to guarantee the ongoing health of all databases
Own and diagnose performance issues of database applications by making quick, confident decisions in emergency situations, documenting and mentoring other team members on troubleshooting technique
Design, implement and monitor a backup strategy that ensures recoverability of all databases meeting the downtime and data-loss needs of the business. Also responsible for carrying out successful DR testing
Own the coordination and deployment of database changes with the change management and development groups
Design and implement database standards policy and best practices while managing upgrade and patching procedures to keep systems healthy and up to date
Seek continuous improvement for environment management through automation and scripting, allowing self-services refreshes of development environments where appropriate
Continuously improve Database Health and Performance Monitoring
Educate many disparate teams on Server/DB streamline opportunities
Manage environment builds and deployments, refreshes and scrub/sample procedures.
Manage vendor relationships relevant to supported technologies
As a DBA (DevOps), you will have:7+ years SQL database administration experience (SQL 2016+ required)
7+ years Systems administration experience (Windows, VMWare, Nutanix, Ola Hallengren + Commvault)
Significant Upgrade and Patching Management experience for SQL and Windows servers including migrations between environments and data centers.
Deep Windows Failover Cluster and Always On Availability Group knowledge
Demonstrated knowledge of waits stats and usage to diagnose issues
Experience administering databases deployed on SAN technology (Nutanix preferred)
Solid data comprehension and understanding of large relational databases
Experience with scripting languages (Powershell preferred) and automation of repeatable tasks
Experience administrating databases deployed with virtual technologies (VMware preferred)
Knowledge of critical SQL dynamic management views (DMVs) and OS performance counters
Excellent communications skills – both verbal and written
Experience implementing industry proven design patterns and ability to guide and defend the merits of the designs on behalf of the business
Bonus Qualifications:Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
Cloud Migration Experience (AWS or Azure preferred)
SQL Big Data Clusters (BDC) and Linux/Docker/Kubernetes
Idera and App Dynamics tools
Non-SQL Server data platform expertise
