Network Engineer

Description:Direct Hire.

Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and support LAN, WAN, VoIP and data center infrastructures
  • Keep network up and running for the entire company including perimeter networks and core infrastructure in the data centers
  • Manage and support local and wide area networks including all Cisco routers and switches, Cisco Nexus core environment in the data centers, and all remote networks
  • Collaborate with network managed services provider to ensure 24/7 monitoring and maximum uptime of the WAN, LAN, and critical data center infrastructure components
  • Work with telecom providers on orders, trouble tickets, billing, and service issues
  • Network infrastructure, support, and monitoring of the MPLS wide-area-network, routers, switches, firewalls, network equipment and Cisco SmartNet maintenance
  • Collaborate with key vendors to support Cisco ASA firewalls and VPN systems
  • Work with managed security services provider to maintain IDS/IPS equipment, services, and working system environment to prevent unauthorized access to data
  • Manage enterprise-wide IP addressing and maintain access-lists for a secure environment
  • Research, architect, implement, troubleshoot, and manage network systems and technology solutions in support of overall business needs
  • Manage network projects and delegate responsibilities to team members
  • Assist with deploying and managing network access control solution
  • Evaluate new technologies and operationalize for production use
  • Monitor system performance and implement performance tuning
  • Assist with planning, performing, and documenting IT disaster recovery testing
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software problems and network connectivity issues
  • Solve complex technical problems working with a wide variety of technologies
  • Create and maintain network documentation and diagrams
  • Other duties as requested or directed

Skills & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, engineering, or related field preferred
  • Cisco CCNA certification required, CCNP preferred
  • At least 6 years of experience managing and troubleshooting a complex network infrastructure in a LAN/WAN environment with solid expertise in routing and switching
  • Extensive experience with installing, configuring, maintaining, and upgrading Cisco hardware and Cisco IOS software in a large, networked environment
  • In-depth knowledge of LAN/WAN communications and network hardware such as Cisco routers, switches, bridges, gateways, and firewalls
  • Experience implementing and supporting WAN networks and data circuits including MPLS, T1, ISDN, fiber/Ethernet, point-to-point, metro Ethernet, and wireless
  • Experience with advanced engineering and administration of multiprotocol routers, multilayer switches, network security devices, and network management systems
  • In-depth knowledge of routing protocols such as RIP, EIGRP, BGP and OSPF
  • Experience with WAN technologies such as optimization, acceleration, traffic engineering
  • Knowledgeable with switch technologies such as VLAN, STP, port-channel, and trunking
  • Understanding and practical experience deploying DMVPN and backup data circuits
  • Experience deploying and supporting VPN technologies on routers and firewalls
  • In-depth knowledge and experience with Cisco IOS, TCP/IP, Layer 2 and 3 switching
  • Experience deploying and managing VoIP, SIP trunks, PBX and QoS
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to oversee simultaneous complex projects
  • Experience overseeing planning, design, implementation and maintenance of network and infrastructure systems
  • Experience with implementing strong security principles and network best practices
  • Working technical knowledge of current Internet technology, protocols, and standards
  • Exceptional troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • On-call availability and some travel may be required
