Direct Care Staff, Personal Care Home
Pennsylvania, Pittsburgh, 15201 Pittsburgh USAAs a Resident Care Staff member at our personal care home, your primary responsibility will be to provide compassionate care and support to our residents. We are seeking a self-starter who finds joy in giving care to individuals and is committed to improving the quality of their lives as they age in place. Your role will be vital in ensuring the physical and emotional well-being of our residents, promoting a nurturing and comfortable environment that fosters their independence and dignity.

Responsibilities:
1. Resident Care:
- Assist residents with daily activities, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility, while promoting independence and respecting their privacy.
- Provide assistance with medication management, ensuring residents receive their prescribed medications on time and in accordance with established protocols.
- Monitor and document residents' vital signs, behavior, and overall health, promptly reporting any changes or concerns to the appropriate supervisor or healthcare professional.
- Assist residents with meals and ensure they receive adequate nutrition and hydration, following any dietary restrictions or preferences.
2. Emotional Support and Companionship:
- Engage in meaningful conversations and provide companionship to residents, promoting social interaction and emotional well-being.
- Foster a positive and supportive environment by actively listening to residents, offering empathy, and providing reassurance.
- Encourage residents to participate in recreational activities and hobbies, tailoring the engagement to their individual interests and abilities.
3. Safety and Environment:
- Maintain a safe and clean living environment for residents, ensuring adherence to health and safety regulations and infection control protocols.
- Promptly report any safety hazards, maintenance issues, or equipment malfunctions to the appropriate supervisor.
- Assist with regular housekeeping duties, such as laundry, tidying resident rooms, and common areas.
4. Documentation and Communication:
- Accurately document residents' care activities, including assistance provided, observations, and any significant changes in their health or behavior.
- Maintain effective communication with supervisors, healthcare professionals, and other team members to ensure continuity of care and address resident needs promptly.
- Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to enhance your knowledge and skills in resident care and aging-related issues.
Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent (additional certifications in caregiving or healthcare are a plus).
- Previous experience in a similar caregiving role, preferably in a personal care home or assisted living facility.
- Genuine passion for providing care and support to individuals and a deep understanding of the aging process.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to empathize and establish meaningful connections with residents.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in documenting care activities and resident observations.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing resident needs and work schedules.
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift, move, and assist residents as required.
