Active military, transitioning service members and veterans are strongly encouraged to apply.Job PurposeThe Construction Manager provides management and direction of utility construction activities. Project work includes project management, resource allocation, equipment management, and utility construction. Duties performed are associated with human resources, payroll, accounting, and administrative functions. This position supports the Construction team and works with field personnel, senior operations management, and customers.Essential Functions1. Manage all projects to completion on-time and within budget.2. Schedule the crews, identify and delegate the crews to start their work, review project timelines and expectations, and supervise work performance and job quality.3. Participate in the hiring process and maintain all employment related paperwork (i.e. new hire paperwork, separation paperwork, employment data changes, etc.).4. Promote a safe work environment, holding crews accountable to safe work practices.5. Determine job costs, labor, and material needed, ensuring on-time deliveries.6. Prepare and interpret drawings, graphs, maps, blueprints, bid documents, contracts, proposals, and specifications. Identify and resolve any blueprint issues prior to and during construction.7. Identify and supervise subcontractors to perform their tasks, inspect, and/or bill any relevant personnel/contractors.8. Take responsibility for all personnel and any vehicles or equipment in their control.9. Participate in meetings with senior operations management, peers, and/or customers.10. Participate in estimating and bidding projects, contract negotiations, and change order preparation.11. Perform other duties as required and/or assignedQualificationsMinimum Qualifications1. An Associate degree in Construction Management or Engineering, or equivalent.2. 5 years of total relevant experience, with 2 years in a supervisory position.3. OSHA 20 Certification.4. Strong multitasking competence in construction, contracting practices, construction processes, methods, and materials.5. Strong management skills of problem-solving, organizing, planning, directing, and monitoring construction projects and personnel.6. Efficient in Microsoft Office applications and data entry.7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.8. Excellent customer service skills.9. Experience in estimating, bidding projects and change order preparation.10. Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more and 20 inches or less, with the ability to judge distance and space relationships.11. Precise hand-eye coordination.12. Ability to identify and distinguish colors.Preferred Qualifications1. A Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Engineering, Or equivalent Work experience2. 10 years of relevant experience, including significant experience in a supervisory role.Physical Demands and Work EnvironmentThis job operates in a professional office environment.
