Job Description

PowerPay is building an automated digital lending platform that generates home improvement loans instantly with no hidden fees. Our platform is a disrupter with the first “no dealer fee” model and our goal is to build the most complete Loan Origination System (LOS) that’s simple, fast, and affordable as a one stop shop for all consumer needs. We’re building an industry leading platform with React front end and Ruby on Rails backend to transform the home improvement lending industry to save our customers millions.

  • You will design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable Ruby on Rails code.

  • You will be involved in the design, development and implementation of our new platform.

  • You will integrate the database and file storage solutions.

  • You will work with and integrate user-facing elements developed by front-end developers with server side logic.

  • You will identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions to these problems.

  • You will help maintain high code quality, organization, automation and be a team player.

Qualifications

  • Must have 6+ years professional experience writing Ruby code (ideally Ruby on Rails Framework).

  • Must have experience creating web applications and a deep understanding of web technologies

  • Be able to provide examples of previous work.

  • Strong attention to detail is required.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a desire to work in a collaborative environment.

  • Proven ability to work with highly confidential data with a high-level of professionalism.

  • Excited to work in a startup environment; you have a track record of being adaptable to changing priorities in a fluid, high-growth environment.

  • You’re able to work independently, but you’re not afraid to ask for help when you need it.

  • You’re not satisfied with the status-quo and are always looking for ways to make things better for our employees.

  • A bachelor’s equivalent degree in Computer Science or related Engineering fields.

  • Highly organized, and able to manage multiple, and sometimes conflicting, priorities.

  • To be proficient in a wide range of tools, design patterns and best practices.

  • To lead the way in evaluating and introducing new, progressive technologies and practices for consideration/use.

  • To be able to work on entire features, from concept through to production deployment ensuring the feature is built and deployed in a timely fashion.

  • Good understanding of modern JS libraries like Ember CLI or React a huge plus.

  • Familiarity with concepts of MVC, Mocking, ORM, and RESTful.

  • Ability to integrate multiple data sources and databases into one system.

  • Understanding of fundamental design principles behind a scalable application.

  • Able to create, update, and maintain database schemas that represent and support business processes.

  • Able to implement automated testing platforms and unit tests, and familiarity with continuous integration.

  • Optional/Nice to have: Full-stack experience, working with React frontends.

  • Optional/Nice to have: AWS experience.

  • Optional/Nice to have: Prior FinTech Experience.
