We appreciate your patience while we work to integrate our application and hiring process.Job DescriptionPurposeTo ensure the Hazleton Plant Extrusion Department equipment produces film meeting quality, cost efficiency and production schedule requirements. Works to minimize downtime and waste. Strives to improve overall cast film run performance. ScopePrimary scope is the cost effectiveness and sustainability of extrusion and extrusion-related equipment for the efficient production of polyethylene cast films. Lends additional plant-wide assistance, when needed, on process improvement concerns.Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesInteracts with Extrusion crew leaders, operators, assistant operators, pumper-handlers, repelletizer operators, scheduler on a frequent, if not daily, basis.Coordinates projects with Project Team and any/all applicable vendors and contractors.Maintains accurate records of both miscellaneous and capital project improvements.Supports maintenance supervision and plant safety team to keep equipment operating safe and efficiently.Diagnoses/troubleshoots problems with drives, motors, thermocouples, blowers and other electrical and mechanical equipment.Investigates, recommends and implements departmental changes intended to improve safety, quality, productivity and waste.Promotes a system of open, honest communication with employees for ensuring project or process improvement success.Communicates to department and plant personnel any anticipated downtime due to projects.Oversees extruder parts inventory.Prepares Corrective Actions for quality and safety issues and verifies implementation.Helps maintain support equipment such as silos, rail siding, chillers, blowers, etc.Attends and participates in department meetings as needed.Accepts and carries out other responsibilities of a critical or non-critical nature to maintain the company/facility and not limited to the extrusion department.Work overtimes as required by project or plant necessity.Job Qualifications (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities)BS Engineering (Chemical or Mechanical preferred)Two - three years minimum extrusion or extrusion-related experience - preferably with cast film extrusion processes and equipment.Strong project management, problem-solving, trouble-shooting skills.Job Qualifications (Continued)Working knowledge of 6-Sigma, ISO, SQC, SPC quality tools.Effectively explores alternatives to reach outcomes that gain employee acceptance to create a harmonious working atmosphere.Self-starting. Able to take action to achieve project goals proactively.Expresses ideas effectively in individual and group situations.Finds most cost-effective solution for solving equipment-related problems.Must be conscientious in complying with all federal, state and company safety rules.Must have a valid driver's license (for emergency situations or travel.)Good computer skills with experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint programs.
