Voce (formerly Family Design Resources, Inc.) works with agencies and professionals who support children and families throughout Pennsylvania. From private social service agencies to public systems for child welfare, education, mental health and juvenile justice, we provide programs, technical assistance and training to help cultivate healthy, supported families in Pennsylvania.

Voce partners with Diakon Lutheran Social Ministries to deliver the programs of the Pennsylvania Statewide Adoption and Permanency Network (SWAN). SWAN includes county children and youth agencies, private adoption agencies, Pennsylvania's Office of Children, Youth and Families, foster and adoptive parents, and many others all working together on behalf of children who need permanent homes.

Human Resources Coordinator – Employee Relations

Reporting to the Director of Finance and Business Operations, the HR Coordinator oversees employee well-being and performance throughout the employment life cycle. This includes providing employee relations expertise, supporting performance management, updating employee records and overseeing the termination process. The HR Coordinator ensures compliance with employment state and federal laws. Collaboration with Voce staff is essential to liaison between staff, supervisors, and the HR department. This position will be cross trained on Leave Management as well as Recruitment and Onboarding.

Job duties may include the following:

Serves as the subject matter expert on employee relations to respond and resolve to personnel issues in compliance with state and federal laws, escalating complaints to the level of disciplinary action when necessary.

Promote employee well-being by advising supervisors on the use of coaching and feedback to enhance employee performance and the treatment of staff according to company policies.

Oversight of the performance management system to ensure competition of appraisals in a timely manner and address documentation errors. Revise the process as needed to stay current with HR best practices.

Ability to lead supervisors through the disciplinary process, providing guidance and assistance to support verbal warnings, written warnings, support plans and terminations.

Manage termination paperwork including staff announcements, exit interviews, COBRA, unemployment, etc.

Organize and update employee files with status changes.

Research and explain laws and legal affairs concerning employment to supervisors and staff.

Cross-trains with other HR Coordinators on Leave Management as well as Recruitment and Onboarding.

Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Associate degree in business a related field with a minimum of 5 years' experience in employee relations or HR generalist experience, is required.Bachelor's degree in business or related field with 2 years of HR generalist or employee relations experience is required.

Expertise with employment law and willingness to increase knowledge.

Effective listening skills to gather information and understand the facts.

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Interpersonal skills that demonstrate professionalism, even in stressful circumstances.

Ability to maintain confidence and complete work without disclosing confidential information.

Ability to prioritize and multitask duties without missing deadlines.

Flexibility to understand change and adapt.

Experience in employee relations at a non-profit organization or social work agency with a decentralized structure or client locations is preferred.
