Job Description

Title: Registered Nurse – Operating Room

Department: Surgical Services

Location: Portland, OR

Hours: Full-Time; assigned on-call 1-3x in 2 week pay period (designed to provide coverage for cases running late—not considered mandatory over-time)

Job Summary:

Shriners Hospitals for Children – Portland is seeking a full-time Pediatric Operating Room RN to join our Surgical Services team! The Operating Room RN is accountable for the coordination of nursing care, while circulating Orthopedic Scrub experience is preferred. Shriners Hospitals for Children – Portland primarily performs complex orthopedic procedures, complex spinal fusions, halo applications, and some head and neck procedures.

Job Requirements and Preferred Qualifications:

· Graduate of an accredited nursing program

· Current Oregon RN licensure

· BLS CPR certification

· Must have PALS certification or obtain within six months of hire

· Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing is required

· Effective interpersonal and conflict resolution skills

  • Excellent communication and listening skills, the ability to work collaboratively in a team
  • Flexibility to delegate, prioritize, and adapt in stressful situations

· Must have the flexibility to alter assignments on short notice and work with diverse personalities and changing situations

· Ability to work as a role model for staff, demonstrating problem solving skills and nursing best practices

· Two years’ experience working in a main operating room

· Experience working with pediatric orthopedic patients is preferred

· CNOR preferred
